In Temple Bar, close to the Button Factory venue, The Merchant House has spacious, luxurious suites that are minutes from restaurants, theatres, bars and historic landmarks. The guest-house-style suites in Dublin's Old Quarter come with free internet access, chocolates and complimentary refreshments on arrival. The Merchant House building was built in 1720, then restored in 2005. Each suite has a large, stylish bathroom and soundproofed windows. Express check-in/out service only. As there is no dedicated reception area within the property, please state exact time and date of arrival at the time of booking in order to ensure a member of staff will be available to welcome guests and show them to their rooms.

This hotel was incredible. I stayed in the Oscar Wilde suite. The attention to detail was beyond compare. This establishment thought of everything, right down to the chocolates. Very small,boutique hotel with only 4 rooms. It was quiet, even though it was in the heart of the Temple Bar area. Could not ask for a better location. The staff was accommodating and actually carried my suitcase to the top floor. I loved this hotel and cannot wait to return. I do have one request please, a bat.
all reviews » personnalized service - convenience of location . large room . I was greeted personally they called me on my way from the airport. I was dreading the noise as it is in very busy /noisy Temple Bar but my suite ( Bram Stoker) was not on street ... so it was quiet .. and they provide ear plugs . ITs a vry urban environment so if you re looking for views or sense of space its not a place for you. The room are large however and otherwise perfect . Will use it again . The merchant was very clean and with well presented rooms,the house manager was very helpful. The location is prime as its located right on the temple bar we didn't find it too noisy at night.would defiantly recommend this place to anybody. I would book again if doing anything around the city Center. The breakfast was catered for through the Stage Door Restaurant and was first class highly recommended the staff there were brilliant providing fresh food. This hotel is AMAZING. We stay here for 6 days. Close to Temple Bar,just around the corner and so is Liffey. We like everything about this hotel.The staff was so nice and helpful. We have the Oscar Wilde suite it is so nice.The top flor.. Only 57 steps up. Thats okay. People write about noise from the nigthclub ... we couldn´t hear anything,if you are a ligth sleeper their is earplugs. We will come back again. . Loved everything.-.location, décor, staff , quality and price. The guest house is centrally located in Temple Bar and the rooms are very well sound proofed. The rooms are elegantly appointed and equipped, with minute attention to detail for our comfort and convenience. I was staying with my daughter for a 3 night Dublin city break and this lovely accommodation was a highlight of our stay..thankyou. Oscar Wilde suite had spectacular room design with fireplaces, beamed ceiling & tasteful updated decor & large size. Also comfy king size bed. Very short walk to half dozen of the best Isish music pubs in Dublin, and medium walk to University & other sights & shopping/ dining. No noise issues, contrary to some other reviews. Spaciousness, location, quality of furnishings/bedding etc. Overall a brilliant experience and one we will absolutely repeat! No cooking facilities but this is not required as everything is on the doorstep. Every other detail is covered including a fridge for your own special bottle of wine (something that is very rare in Ireland). the location was quite good they let us leave our bags as we had a late flight the breakfast was really good james joyce suite really good - overlooks entrance but soundproofing good. stayed in aheatwave and have to say air conditioning the best excellent suite - great toilet & shower. The Bram Stoker room was very well insulated from the sounds of Temple Bar. You are right in the midst of the Temple Bar scene. Right off the 747 bus route from and to Dublin airport as well as the hop on/ hop off busses. So many restaurants and pubs to choose from.... Location is absolutely perfect it within walking distance to Templebar were river Liffey and grafton Square. Room layout was luxurious and charming. John our host was very accommodating! There was free Wi-Fi movies extra pillows and a great bathroom. We stayed in The James Joyce suite, beautifully decorated and spacious. The housekeeper was very informative and helpful allowing an early check in as our room was ready, and holding onto our luggage after checkout. Property is well located. My husband and I especially loved all the details in our room. From the frosted bathroom door with the room name on it, to the ear plugs for light sleepers (which were not needed), to the umbrella for borrow, we couldn't have been happier. The design of the room makes you feel like you were in old Ireland! (but with a super modern, clean and classy touch!) amazing details all over and free little goodies that make your stay easier!. We stayed in the Oscar Wilde suite, it was a well thought out room design. Spacious yet cozy, modern bathroom and good double glazed windows that ensured we got a great night's sleep. Excellent location. Best pillows and mattress on trip. A shower that could accommodate one(or more)normal sized people. Earplugs-street could could get a little hectic late at night. The suite was wonderful- stayed in Oscar Wilde suite and was sheer luxury .. Fabulous location and despite bing in the heart of temple bar , the room was peaceful and tranquil .. 1)The quiet retreat from the noise on the streets. 2)Breakfast at the Stage Door Cafe (included) was excellent and the staff there was extremely friendly. 3) Perfect Location. Location was perfect! Staff were amazing and very helpful as they help orchestrate my engagement which was perfect!! Suites are so cosy and very well kept and decorated!. great room in great central location in temple bar.. a lot within walking distance very clean and easy self-access to the building resonably proced for location also. Excellent stay made even better bybthe addition of a new workspace in the smaller suite. Now an excellent and luxurious place to stay even on a business trip!. Wonderful staff who cater to their guests needs. Great city center location. We will stay here again. Most surprising aspect was low prices on the mini bar!. The rooms were really beautiful and pretty quiet considering we were smack bang in the middle of templebar. The dvds, ipod dock, etc. were nice touches. The guest house were very nice. I did not find a single thing that needed to be changed. We loved the accommodation, where it was, this was a birthday present for my partner. The breakfast wasn't located in the complex but was only a 1 min walk around the comer . Street it is on contains some unplesant businesses. No reception facility, no management on site. Best room is on top floor which is up several flights of narrow stairs. Don't bring lots of luggage. I had to think hard to find any negatives so this is being very picky.... The outside grill door is quite difficult to close, especially in the rain!. not good for familys as next to fetish shop and opposite a night club which meant people spilling out into the street. Not much. Not that I did not like this aspect, but bookers should be aware that the property is directly across from a bar and nightclub which can get noisy. Did not bother us as we did not expect or book this property for a quiet peaceful weekend. Only staying 1 night. Street difficult to find. Steep stairs tough to negotiate with baggage. For the price, you should get "real" coffee, not instant. Nothing ! It was great. A bathrobe perhaps could have been provided ? This is NOT a Complaint however - just a suggestion :)). N/A. Price quite steep as it was my engagement and they did help but charged quite alot for their efforts! €40 for some strawberrys a congrats card and some rose petals! It did look amazing but a lil steep non the less. Electric Shower as opposed to a Power Shower and iPod Docking Station wasn't working. no complaints it was as described. there is no bar or any of that like a large hotel but you don't need as you are in the centre of things. Nothing to dislike at all although if it was any warmer then airconditioning for the room would be desireable. Nothing we didn't like about the merchant house. Two minor points, a full size ironing board and a large mirror on the dressing table would score this hotel 10/10. Only one very minor gripe, needs a cordless kettle. Location was fantastic Room beautiful. it is not really a hotel, rather a really nice guesthouse. They don't have a reception and you have to close the gate at night, etc... apart from that it is a great place to stay. nothing. The door to the bathroom should be frosted in its entirety. Very loud music at night in the courtyard next to Merchant House. I thought the room was cold, heating would need to stay on longer. Stairs, no privacy to front windows without closing the blinds. just a few niggles; *no power shower *poor kettle/tea/coffee facilities *old TV - no on screen guide, timer etc *bedding/valance dirty * needs a dressing table with mirror etc. No reception. Can't really think of anything. Nothing. walking up the stairs after a long session in the local bars...!!!. Next door doing renovations, mid quality tea/coffee/biscuits. No breakfast and parking a little far away. Lack of a bath was disappointing.
