I had a wonderful staying in Ganges Inn, and I found the place very clean, with a very friendly and helpful staff, on a wonderful location if your plans are to stay very close to the main Gaths on the Ganges river.
I've visited as a solo female traveller and also I felt extremely safe. I definitely would recommend it for anyone who wants to experience Varanasi.

I stayed at sai palace for one nights to see the sites. The location was spot on, only 2 mins walk from the south gate of the taj. Big bed, with bathroom for 775 Rs. staff was good..location was perfect.... food was ok but little costly. -

The guest house is extremely lovely. The family that own this place are very nice people. They are ready to help you with any problem. It's located in about 5 minutes of walk from the place where you can buy a ticket and catch a golf car to Taj Mahal. Food is also very testy there. I highly recommend this place to people who are looking for a guest house where can they stay for a couple of days.

This is a basic budget hotel.
Having said that, it's very reasonably priced and the owner and his staff go out of their way to be as helpful as possible.
I ate there several times and the food was excellent and reasonably priced. The room was basic, but clean and comfortable with no shortage of hot water.
The owner organised both an auto-rickshaw for the day to get around Agra as well as a car and driver the next day to venture further afield, both were excellent and the drivers honest and frie
