This place must be the best value in Reykjavik. I walked into my room and had a mini-jaw drop as I saw the quality of the furnishings, the comfortable bed, the NEWness of everything, and a well-stocked kitchenette. Breakfast is a tray of goodies - bread, jams, cheese. They also provide cartons of milk and orange juice that you are free to use up. Our kitchenette featured a sink, toaster, mini-fridge, and basic cooking equipment (pots and pans). The front desk staff is VERY nice and helpful. P.
all reviews » Everything was great - clean, spacious, comfortable, well-equipped (wifi in room, kitchen facilities, ipod dock), and the bath was lovely. The staff were friendly & helpful, dealing with some of my tourist queries including phone calls to local tour companies. The location is very central and you can walk to all shopping, bars, restaurants, harbour etc. Most tour companies pick up and drop off outside the hotel. The hotel was beautifully clean. Everything in the kitchenette area in our room had been thought of as well as every appliance you could need. There was tea, coffee, milk, sugar, orange juice and cereals provided free of charge. The rooms were cleaned each day including all your washing up done for you. This really was one of the best places we have stayed. I would rate it 10/10, and highly recommend staying here. This hotel was perfect! It had a wonderful european charm and a no- nonsense approach to providing guest with a clean and comfortable stay. The staff were friendly and very accomodating(Thanks Christian). The location of the hotel makes walking around town incredibly easy and a feel of cosmopolitan before you head out to the natural wonders outside the city. Would stay there again without hesitation. Reykjavik Residence Suites is brand new - it's been open about 3 months - so no wear and tear. Spacious, quite luxurious, tasteful and well equipped, great location near the main shopping area and close to a tour office. Good continental breakfast in a basket (half a loaf of great fresh bread was a nice touch!) but a bit more variety would have been nice after a few days. Highly recommended!. I hope to visit Reykjavik again, and I would not stay anywhere else but the Reykjavik Residence Apartment Hotel. The apartment was beautifully designed, furnished and equipped; I noticed the use of Villeroy and Bosch for the cups and plates. The staff were unfailingly polite and exceedingly helpful. The location was perfect -- five minutes walk for most places we wanted to get to. Quiet and comfortable room in a lovely building, friendly and accommodating staff, convenient to central Reykjavik. Small but well- equipped kitchens provided with staples, yogurts, cheeses and sandwich fixings every day, and a fresh loaf of bread in the morning. Free local calls, wi-fi and guest computer, an easy walk to many restaurants, sights and museums. A great choice. Absolutely loved the hotel. We gad a 3 bedroom apartment with a kitchen and living room which was beautifully decorated. Made it especially easy to gather with our friends at the beginning and end of each day. We stayed in the 3 bedroom apartment on a small street behind the hotel... very quiet. Each of children had their own bedroom and the kitchen and laundry facilities were convenient. There were no negatives for us at all. There is an apartment above the 3 bedroom we stayed in. There were people staying there only one night during our stay, but we could here everything... their kid crying and running about all night, slamming doors, etc... I wish the hotel had told us that there is an apartment above and that it might get loud. I say find out before you book. Nothing. A very small addition which would be useful would be a shower cap and hairdryer. But only a suggestion rather than a complaint. The shower was a bit tricky in that the floor was flush with the bathroom floor. You had to be care not to flood the bathroom. Very little but if I was very picky our ground floor apartment didn't have much of a view and with a picnic table right outside we had to close the curtains when other guests were sitting there. Nothing. Room was not cleaned at check-in time, but we did get to check out an hour later, so it equaled out. Parking garage across the street could get crowded. No elevator for luggage. Television operating directions would have been helpful. Theres nothing not to like. - Room slightly more compact than had expected - double bed was 2 singles pushed together so had 2 single duvet (not sure if this is standard in Iceland?). There are some road work right outside the hotel. There is also no scenic view. - Lack of wardrobe space so couldn't unpack clothes other than hanging clothes - No hook to hang shower head up, no shower curtain so bathroom regularly got wet and awkward bathroom space so not comfortable to have shower -. Having to leave. I liked it all, and believe me I am fussy!. The tv did not work, even after we reported this to the staff they took no corrective action. Breakfast not included. The girl that worked during day time, seemed a bit stressed.And uses some time during check out to come to the desk. We rang the bell 6 times, and waited for 10 minuts... and then we had to go out to our taxi. Sound proofing between rooms was not very effective Also room we were given was much smaller than photo shown on website. Would have liked a proper shower and chairs for the table. Nothing wrong in this hotel !!!. The arranged taxi when we arrived in the early morning was excessive in price. There was construction on the main street the apartment is on...but that didn't impact us very much and wasn't really an issue. Need more info on how to use the cable tv, also operation of washing machine and dryer. Perhaps printed leaflets could be left in the apartment. The absence of staff at my location. As a result, I was often required to contact another location to assist me with my questions. In addition, I found the room noisy--outside sounds caused me to wake up several times during the night. N/A. Nothing (although it was a shame about the road works going on - no fault of the hotel - just a little unlucky on the timing of our visit).
