EVERYTHING.....the staff was way cool, the place itself was great and in a great location,,,,,,exspecially with the cool big skull out front, it is the perfect land mark and got me home many a night...Breakfast was ok, the coffee was wonderful...the more I think about it ,I have no real complaints about the place and if I ever get the chance to go to Iceland again will stay there.......and I will be recommending the Backpackers to all my friends and to anybody I know going to Iceland..... Thank.

All of the staff were super helpful, accommodating, and knowledgeable. Thanks for a great stay!. One of the best hostel I stayed in, very homey and warm ambiance despite Iceland being a cold country. The staff are amazingly friendly, the bar and lounge downstairs is a best place to hangout and meet with other travelers. - Very good location, near to the church, bonus supermarket, seashore, Riverside, BSI Terminal, etc. The hostel is simply centrally located among them! - kitchen and refrigerator, cooking utensils available. i thought it was quite quirky but in a really nice way and i liked the fact i could just come and go as i wanted to. I just wanted somewhere to sleep and rest and thata certainly what I got. Location - on the main street, so couldn't be better located! Staff - friendly, useful. Bed - incredibly comfortable for a hostel + nice warm lovely duvet. Excellent value for money. The staff were great and the main common use facility was newly renovated. Good bar and relaxing space plus a big table to spread out. Big windows, bright and airy feeling. I met a lot of different travelers and the staff were friendly and helpful. No taxis or any walking required for shops or drinks, and Tour bus station is only 2 min walk down the road , all good!!!!!. very central, parking available nearby. Good location. Breakfast option. I had reserved a double bed in a single room and I got two single beds in a single room. could have had more places to hang cloths. The smell of sulfur in the shower hot water will surprise you at first, but once you know its normal in Iceland it would be fine. - Wifi is only available at the ground floor. - A bit noisy during night time as the bar is operating downstairs. - Need to walk up to 3 or 4 levels of stairs when you choose to get to the room. Wifi - only worked on the ground floor (bar and reception) Not much of an atmosphere (people were friendly enough but quiet) Kitchen/ chill areas could be made a bit nicer and comfier. Ok not the hostel's fault but there are several bars on the street. Our room looked onto the street which was nice BUT these rooms bear the brunt of the late-night merry-making. Ask for a bed at the back. Do not take 202 203 204 or 205. No elevator. Bring ear plugs! Small room. Duvet not included in the accommodation fee. - Need to bring own bedsheets or rent them - Noisy bedroom doors. - the room had a window towards the street, therefore there was a lot of noise in the room - the hostel does not have parking place (or at least not any advertised). Staff had a tremendously laissez faire attitude -it seemed like they felt they were doing us a favor when we asked them to replenish food or coffee when it ran out at the breakfast buffet- which we were paying a fair bit extra for. We waited at reception for 5 minutes to ask a question before we gave up- because the guy at the front desk was TALKING ON HIS CELLPHONE. A line started forming and he was still on his personal phone!. The alarm on the bedroom door that would go on if you left the door opened for more than a few seconds. No elevator. The extremely loud music (bass mostly) coming from the bar next door which didn't stop until about 230am. Noise, not very clean toilets, lack of soap & toilet paper. The room overlooked the grungy outdoor bar, and was noisy. The floor had not been cleaned in the room, and dead bugs were found in our sheets. beds. Right where the rib shaking ear deafing noisy as faak night clubs are on a weekend night time especially them fec'krs next door on the front street 'Laugavegur' and s'hit for getting any sleep during Fri-Sat night. quite expensive for what it is. Kitchen quite dirty with barely any dishes and cutlery. Staff were not friendly at all. Wifi only in the ground floor. Beddings dirty. Heating did not work in room and it was very cold.
