Tha - The Radisson Blu 1919 is centrally located in downtown Reykjavik -- couldn't ask for a better location. Just a block away from the pedestrian area, and from the bus stop. The staff were always helpful and friendly in every way possible. Always. The rooms were very clean, with ample space. The breakfast buffet was really outstanding -- plenty of wonderful variety from which to choose. We felt very welcomed at all times here. That means a lot to us as travelers. The lady of the house was extremely helpful and kind: she ordered us a tour plus a taxi to the airport since we wanted to save a bit time due to our early morning flight.   When we arrived from the airport at the bus depot despite it being 1amthe very personable owner of Apartment k picked us up. The apartment wasright downtown but with a view of ocean and mountains, well furnishedand outfitted with large flat screen tv, wlan and MacMini with largecollection of movies. Excellent communication and support from the owners, who were very helpful and welcoming.   Hotel has been re-done recently and has an impressive lobby (with free internet pc's available). The rooms are decorated very well and there is a good information book in your room. The duvets are divine!! Staff are very friendly and efficient in booking the flybus back to airport - Very positive staff. It's a new hotel with a great reception area... what people say » with free Internet access. The view from 12th floor was stunning. The restaurant delivered the best fish dish I've had for long. They answered questions, confirmed tours, made phone calls to check on things in other towns, made great suggestions about places to eat and buy things, and gave directions to get around.   Shaun and the people who work at the Laxnes cant do enough for you. We had to change plans a number of times and nothing was too much trouble. They gave us great advice on the things to do and more importantly what not to do in terms of paying far too much for taxis and how to use the transport system. Local knowledge goes an awful long way.   The staff was superb! The desk personnel were extremely knowledgeable and helpful regarding the sites to visit, excursions to take and places to eat. The cleaning staff was diligent in getting your room clean and tidy yet left personal items as you left them. The hotel was conveniently located in the heart of the city and a perfect walk to almost... what people say » every point of interest. - The rooms were very funky but cosy. The location was perfect, 2 mins walk to the nearest bars and restaurants. The breakfast was simple but adequate and we also got breakfast at 5.30am before we headed to the airport on our last morning. The staff were friendly and helpful.
