The staff was superb! The desk personnel were extremely knowledgeable and helpful regarding the sites to visit, excursions to take and places to eat. The cleaning staff was diligent in getting your room clean and tidy yet left personal items as you left them.
The hotel was conveniently located in the heart of the city and a perfect walk to almost every point of interest. The rooms were very funky but cosy. The location was perfect, 2 mins walk to the nearest bars and restaurants. The breakfast was simple but adequate and we also got breakfast at 5.30am before we headed to the airport on our last morning. The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is very well located, the people are friendly and helpful. The breakfast was great, a good start to the day. The decor was "funky" and very different. It took a bit of getting used to the decor, but it was a refreshing change from predictable North American hotels. Location,design of the rooms and furnitures, all the rooms and different but well furnished wirh the same style, cleaning, kindness of the staff. Amazing hotel! The hotel is in a Great location, provided a wonderful room and has lovely staff. Must be the best in Iceland!. The hotel was great and very modern. Remind the midnight sun...ventilation in the room. payed room price was higher then booking. The heat in the room and some noise from Reykjavik towndown. On one hand the location is right in the center, the down side is that it is a bit noisy with (drunk) people in the weekend.One tiny opening window meant the room was very stuffy and warm. the staff at the reception did not give the guests their full attention.Unfortunately when we arrived we were told that they had over booked andthat we had to move to a sister hotel, which was further away and notthe boutique that we wanted. We were moved back on the second night, butthis spoilt our first nights stay somewhat. Room was a bit dark - not enough lighting and you had to get out of bed to turn lights off and on.No blinds. This is something that for the foreign traveller is very uncomfortable as not used to sleeping with light. Next to noisy street - very loud bar and passers by at the weekend. Very noisy drains too. We didn't really get welcomed to the hotel and the reception staff were very moody and not very willing to help. the service/knowledge level about things to do, sightseeing, restaurants... from the staff was very uneven. There are 2 staff in the hotel. One of the staff is not that welcoming to guests. They do not have International adaptor. Interior design too dark.As for all of Iceland so expensive. Hotel is to be recommended for design fanatics only as a lot of functionality is missing, especially in the bathroom. You have to get used to such a lot of black without any colours in the interior. Furthermore, although claimed for it twice the broken shower hose has not been replaced. Breakfast could offer much more.Hotel needs finishing, work still in progress,. A (very) small) room. The very poor lighting in the bedroom. Building works outside. The staff was rude, we got a room that was double booked and there forwe were sent to a smaller room. This I did not like and will not havefurther business with that hotel.It was a case of form over function - i.e. the taps for both shower and basin were little joystciks that you could not control the temprature with. The floor in the bathroom was cracking up, the designer light fitting hung so low that it was only 4' off the floor so you had to walk around it. The streetside rooms are located above a pub. In the weekends, there are crowds standing in front of the hotel (smoking) - because there is no good isolation- this will keep you awake all night (pub closes 6am). There is no ventilation in the system, so also the room gets very stuffy because you dont want to open the windows (noise and smoke). Changeing rooms wasnt possible because hotel was full.

CenterHotel Thingholt is a brand new hotel located in Reykjavík’s city centre, housed in a renovated printing factory. At CenterHotel Thingholt there’s a strong focus on quality modern design inspired by Icelandic nature.
Inside you will find original and unique modern art by Icelandic artists. Currently, the hotel has commissioned local artists to create individual pieces for each of the rooms, making each one unique.
During your stay you will be treated to a friendly and personalised service and are assured of serene and restful accommodation in a refined atmosphere.
Restaurant Domo is located on the ground floor of the hotel. Domo specializes in Asian-European fusion cuisine.

By car:
From Keflavik International Airport:
- from the airport, take the first right at the roundabout
- continue in the direction of Hafnarfjörður
- follow signs for Reykjavík
- join the coast road Saebraut
- follow Saebraut until you arrive in Reykjavík’s city centre, where Saebraut changes its name into Kalkofnsvegur
- at the traffic lights turn left into Laekjargata
- turn left onto Bókhlöðustígur
- take the first turning on the right and you will be on Thingholtsstraeti (written Þingholtsstræti in Icelandic) where CenterHotel Thingholt is, number 3-5 in 2 buildings, one grey and the other white.
Flybus information from Keflavik International Airport:
The Flybus offers a very convenient transportation service from Keflavik International Airport to the hotel and back. It operates in connection with all arriving flights. You will find it immediately on your right when you leave the airport building. The Flybus takes passengers to the bus terminal in Reykjavík. From there passengers are taken to the hotels in Reykjavík in smaller busses. Just tell the driver that you are going to CenterHotel Thingholt. When you go back, just let reception know the day before your flight at what time it is and they will figure out which Flybus departure would be best for you. The Flybus picks up at the hotel, brings you to the bus terminal where you switch to a bigger bus and then takes you to the airport.
The price is 1200 ISK per person one way.
Taxi information from Keflavik International Airport:
Taxis are available right outside the airport building. The rate for a taxi from the airport to Reykjavík is approximately 8500 ISK for a single journey. For the trip back to the airport a taxi can be booked from CenterHotel Thingholt’s reception.
