Clean and functional basic accomodation, Comfortable beds, pillows and duvets, with ensuite toilett & shower facilities excellent, good water pressure and plenty of hot water. Breakfast good value for money and fresh. Staff friendly and nice atmosphere within public spaces, bright and clean. very good value for money for a budget break. It was perfect with small children. Relaxed and good atmosphere - the children loved the game-area in the reception. Easy to walk to the subway - and only one stop from the main station. We would choose this hotel again - perfekt with bunkbeds and a doublebed in the family room.

The hostel had great facilities, and is very modern. Certainly one of the best I've seen in recent years. Liked the lobby/communal area, don't think it would be hard for any solo traveller to make contact with others. Beds were comfy, clean and the rooms were large. Nothing special but ok. It takes about 7 to 10 mins walk to get to the u-bahn. Free internet in the lobby. Notes: 1. if you park the car on their parking, return the key immediately :) 2. entrance to the hotel is on the both side of the building. Clean and tidy room, which represented very good value for money. Staff were helpful at check-in and the wi-fi in the public areas worked very well. Close to a couple of very useful U & S Bahn stations. All staffs are kind so much and made me so comfortable. I can definitely say that the managers in this A & O hotel/hostel must be far much proud of them. Good location, good sized room, good breakfast. The hostel/hotel manages to cater successfully both for young backpackers and for older guests and families. Breakfast could be better (although isn't bad). Seemed understaffed at times, and they did not always seem to know about what was happening in Hamburg - e.g. the Triathlon the weekend we were there. At the weekend, there were so many people in the breakfast room that the staff could not keep up with the demand for plates, cutlery, juice, etc. small choice of beverages in the bar (practically only pizzas); youngsters make a lot of noice at highest floors of the hotel and the administration should have taken care about that. By a mistake we got an already occupied room. This ought not be technically possible! In the (quite long...) waiting time for another room, the hostel offered os a drink, though.. Staff at the reception was very slow. You have to wait 5 minutes to catch a lift to the rooms. for the price i would have paid 10-15% less (compared to other cities i have been). very few space for clothes. nothing. Check-in was slow. The hotel is very large so sometimes it feels like you are walking through a maze to find your room. Design on the first floor is little but old looking not cozy. soft mattress. I firstly get to the wrong hotel ( reeperbahn). And the staff attitude was shocking, I felt like I disturbed the lobby girl, I had to insist to have the right adress The coffee is not free, even for breakfast, and really expensive (2, 50 €) espiacially for instant coffee . You can wait for a long time to get served at the bar or reception . Daily Room Cleaning is required. Beds were not so comfortable. The staff isn't very informative and bed linen wasn't included. Our room was beside a road, and it was very very noise during the night. location is not nice, but metro is very close a lot of ppl on reception all time. Nothing. Complicated to book a parking place. a little bit too busy to be really comfortable (this is a sleeping factory!) there was a loooong line at the desk for check in and during the whole weekend. that is unacceptable, even in a cheep place. The price on letsbookhotel.com was different than when I arrived there. They charged me more even thought in the agreement with letsbookhotel.com there was information that the price suppose to be exactly the same as while booking. I consider it as a fraud from the hostel side. Check in. Was appalling. I had to queue for an hour. Just hand the forms that need to be filled in down the line!. Not that it bothered me too much, but noise sensitive travelers should take into consideration the fact that the hotel is located between two busy city streets. There was a long queue at 15hr during check-in. I waited for 30 minutes and then went out to finish my other priorities and checked-in later in the night. Would be good if A&O opens few more counters particularly during check-in to manage the long queue. wooden windows made the night quite loud. the noise from the street came in easily. parking was quite far from the hotel - cca. 150m and it was open air parking. very small size flatscreen tv. Most frustrating is being charged $100 more than was quoted and agreed upon on bookings.com. We arrived at 21:00 with no other lodging options available so are forced into paying more. This is dishonest. We have traveled Europe with our kids for years and we have never encountered such a practice. We could hear any noise in our hallway which was very disturbing when young adults came back to their rooms drunk and loud in our hallway at 04:00 in the morning. The sheets were not very clean. Breakfast and wi-fi at room come with extra charge. A little bit expensive overall. Too noisy. And the single room I have taken was nearly the same Price of the Ibis Hotel, but with the Standard much lower than Ibis Hotel. young staff take for ever to serve the customers evidently with no one behind the scenes who knows how to run a hotel well. Had to go back to front desk to get bedding for all beds. Huge facility with long corridors and central atriums transmitted associated noise from late arrivals and early hour partiers. service, stuff. The staff are students very nice people, friendly, capable , intelleigent (great idea) Zer net but they don't have anyone to show them how to manage a reception or bar so you have long waits especially at check in. You also have security staff that basically do nothing who could also help but don't. One good manager required. I did not like the neighbourhood, especially as a girl travelling alone in the dark. The line for the check in was long. Queues booking in on the friday night were pretty horrendous.could have done with more staff to clear the queue. A long check-in line. Paying extra for sheets/towels. Shower was clogged but did not want to wait at front desk line to ask for help. people not very smiling and helpful at the reception date and often a lot of queuing. Long queues for check in and at bar. Colour scheme a bit ropey. The reception is manned by university students nice people good idea they try hard but there seems to be no or useless managers to give them guidance and oversight so they have no idea how to process clients quickly creating huge slow queues at check and in the bars.
