Updated interior Cleanliness Helpful staff Basic but well done Apart from the toiletries that was not there, I could not find a fault in the hotel for the price. I highly recommend it as it is only a 5 min walk from the main station and seconds from the shopping street. We loved it here. Great value for what you pay. Much better than we expected. The hotel is in a perfect location, overlooking the square in the centre of Essen and within walking distance of shopping centre.

The only strange thing was that there were no toiletries in the room (I.e, soap, shampoo). 24hr parking is a good 5-7 minutes walk away. The hotel does not have it's own parking facilities. No parking facility, tho we were able to park on the street because it wasn't busy. Bed was rather hard and not very comfortable. No telephone in the room (you cannot call the reception) I didn't find the button to shut down the bed lamps. Nothing not to like. Nothing all good. Lack of any refreshments in the room, tea & coffee would be nice. Not as close to station as other Motel 1 locations. No hard soap only liquid in fiddley small bottles, cannot fill basin with water, no room for suitcases. no bothel of water in the room no phone in the room no minibar in the room. Bedrooms a little small. The fact that I had to pay as I entered the hotel and not upon check out. Shows a lack of trust. Quality of coffee in breakfast area. Although I asked for a room with a view (Kennedy Platz), mine was overlooking the backyard. my friend getting punched in the face by the barman!.
