  We just wanted a one night stop on route to Calais & chose well. The hotel was closed when we arrived at 4.40 & on the door was a notice, open at 5, after a long journey we were not very happy. But I rang the intercom & somebody came straight away & the reception girl arrived at 5. Room 203 was large but smelt a bit of smoke. The hotel is a nice old building but with mo - We stayed one night en route from Italy to UK. It was convenient as only 3 hours from Channel Tunnel. The gentleman on reception was excellent - extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel is right in the centre with plenty of bars and restaurants nearby. The rooms are clean but a little bit basic although perfectly adequate for a one night stay. We will certainly use this hotel next year when we will be making a similar trip again.
