I liked the fact that the hotel is in a very colorful neighborhood rich in history and has all walks of life present. Plenty of cute boutique style shops, sidewalk cafes, bistros and restaurants! Everything you could possibly need was there within walking distance of the hotel. Very pet friendly and the staff I interacted with was extremely polite accommodating, helpful, courteous, knowledgeable about the area and the public transportation and fun! Samuel was my favorite! I enjoyed my stay very.
all reviews » Had a great stay here. The room was really nice and bright. It was very clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Pool was a great bonus for hot days. The hotel in a nice area with lots of restaurants and is only a 10 minute walk from kings cross station which will get you to the city centre. We didnt pay extra for the room with a bridge view but the girl at the desk gave us the keys to the roof which has some of the best views in sydney. Stunning views of the harbour and opera house. Go. Macleay is situated in Potts Point with a great view on Habour Bridge and Opera House and / or another part of the Harbour. The room with the view at Opera house face the street which can be noisy at night and over the weekend. If you don't mind walking, 10 min to subway station Kings Cross or via the park to Circular Quay in 20-25 min, it's a brilliant place to stay. Our room might not face the harbour, but it still had a beautiful and clean district view. I love the facilities: the small kitchen, the laundry room in every level, and my hubby love the secure parking load. If you want to see opera house but don't wanna drive your own car, there is 311 bus that pass the hotel and will take you directly to Circular Quay. Awesome!. Room was clean - kitchenette was very handy to prepare breakfast. Table and chairs to sit and eat at. Room compact but everything you need. Woolies across the road. Coffee shops and eating places right there. Out of the hussel of the city but close enough to walk. Loved the walk through the Botanical Gardens...so close We had a harbour view room - worth it. The location of the hotel is perfect for a city stay. A short walk to the nearest train station and loads of cabs passing outside. The hotel was immaculately clea. Our room on the 9th Floor 914 had spectacular views from the Harbour Bridge to Sydney heads. It was spotlessly clean and comfortable. Pefectly placed to walk into the city. Buses, train and taxis all easily available. Minutes to everything you could possible need. The staff were lovely and gave me the early check in I reuqested. The hotel provided a fantastic location- with the Botanical Gardens a block away through which the harbour was a 10-15 min walk. The facility is in a great location, active neighborhood and approximately a 10 minute walk to the museum,botanical garden, Opera House, and etc. The room is as described in the pictures. The hotel could be updated a bit such as new carpet, paint, shower, and etc. Staff was extremely helpful. They helped me on a daily basis during a four night stay with directions, recommendations for restaurants and sights to see. Your website said it was a room with a view of the Opera House and the Bridge and it was just as described. The front desk was always helpful. Paolo was a great help to me. I stayed in room 912, which had the greatest view of the opera house/bridge, as well as the business district. The room was comfortable, and the shower had good water pressure. The fact the Hotel is a short thirty minute walk to the city made it a great stay for us. Shops,hairdressers,laundries,Bottle shops,Restaurants and everything we needed. Kings Cross is EDGY [not the hotel street] but 6 mins walk around the corner to go to the train station - SO be prepared for sleazy, sad, crazy, interesting street scenes, don't wave valuables about near train station area....... Cramped car park. Everything was very clean but the room and bathroom could do with some refurbishment. Didnt stay long enough. It was almost perfect but the soap dish in the shower was broken off and hadn't been replaced. I did not like the room bathroom. The shower needs to be updated. The shower was more cramped than I like but it still a very nice bathroom. having to leave. I was expecting the rooms to be a bit bigger. Apart from that, everything was excellent. The lack of free wifi in the apartments. Bed was not good. Very poor lighting in bathroom. the pressure of the water in the shower and it was not easy to monitor the hot ans cold. Not much, Kings cross has some drug addicted persons near the station but I felt safe all the time. No issues. I have only one thing to say is when the builders started we was told 9am to 3pm but were disturbed at 7.30am after a night out that was the last thing to hear.Not realy the hotels fault. Free wi-fi would have been nice. N/a. Shower was a bit small but still OK. Wifi a too expensive. That is the only fault. Only issue was infrequency of 311 bus at night. Work on the exterior was noisy - particularly in the morning - whilst I understand it was a necessity the banging at 8.30 was very loud. The cost of wireless internet is high if you want it in room. $5 per hour or $15 per day. However you can get free wifi in the lobby area. Shower was uncomfortable. Possibly more light in bathroom. Could not find hairdryer easily. Garbage bin under sink in bathroom was awkward you need two hands to drop rubbish in there. These are just minor things really. Pool could be improved. That we were able to go to the rooftop when there were scaphals, cords all over, no guard rails, ladders - very very unsafe area. Construction (as warned on website) was not supposed to be happening for our dates at time of booking but was still going on while we were there as work was delayed (we expected this to happen really). The stove was too small and there was a limited amount of space to cook, ideal for making pasta only. There also needs to be more clarity on how to go about using the gym and free wifi in the bedroom. Bathroom and room door locking system is very dated. Would be helpful if the hotel could provide more information on their website about airport transfers. View from our room compared to my friends room was a little disappointing, but he did pay more for a water front view. So I guess that's more my fault. It's pricey for what it is but it's much cheaper then anything else we found in Sydney (Not the Hotels fault). Room could have been bigger and pretty noisy late night at times. It looks a bit worn although all the equipment was reasonably up to date. free wifi in lobby, but cost in rooms.

The Macleay offers studio apartments, best described as self catering hotel rooms. Each studio apartment is self contained with a kitchen and ensuite bathroom. The studio apartments were been completely refurbished in 2008. Many of the studios have the most stunning views of either The Bridge & Opera House or Elizabeth Bay across the Harbour to Manly Heads.

From Sydney Airport
Sydney International Airport & Domestic airport is only 10-12 km away.
The Sydney Airporter Shuttle Bus operates to and from our door. The cost is approx AUD 12.00 one-way. The bus stop is located outside of the Arrivals Hall at the Domestic and International terminals.
A taxi from the airport costs between AUD 35 - 40 depending on traffic and takes around 20 minutes.

From Central Train Station
With suitcases it may be easier to catch a taxi from Central at a cost
of around AUD 12.00 or from Central catch a train to Kings Cross Station (Bondi Junction Line) taking around 5 minutes. From the Station take the Darlinghurst Road exit, turn left and around an 8 minute walk to hotel.
