It was spotlessly clean, comfortable, so comfortable that I overlayed for breakfast and I don't even do that when I'm at home, the extra large bath towels, the fact that it had a bath as well as a shower, the chocolate on the bed when I got there and the packet of biscuits ~ most welcoming after a fairly long drive, the staff were extremely friendly but not intrusive, the location was fabulous, opposite a beautiful big church, close enough to the town centre and river to walk but still very qui. όλα τα σχόλια »
Everything! The hosts Suzy and Derek were lovely friendly and helpful.
I had a double room to myself though it was a room with no view ie next door's wall everything else was perfect. Clean, modern, uncluttered, comfy.
Great choice and flexibility for breakfast, the porridge was gorgeous!
A real bonus was the opportunity to use the microwave and fridge in the breakfast room so if you dont fancy going out you can reheat a micro meal and eat in!.
a warm welcome by one of the hosts on arrival.I had arrived early and was shown my room with no delays.When i asked if there was a recommended place to eat,the recommendation given was spot on!
(Cavens in Dumfries).the rooms and property were spotless,and the breakfast in the morning was hearty and of a very good quality.would i stay again?...definately!.
Friendly and helpful owners were great. Comfortable room. Next to station and bus depot. Unlike many places the wifi works, and the room has good lighting. Derek and Suzy happy to give good advice on local details. And the first time in seven weeks travelling that the hosts offered to help carry my bags to room!.
Excellent attention & help from Suzy. Breakfast really well cooked by her hubby (sorry, his name eludes me). Was upgraded from a single to en-suite double at no cost after they'd had a late cancellation due to bad weather, & I felt this was really very good of them. Location could hardly be better.
Very clean, excellent parking, large rooms, close to city sites, excellent restaurants close, terrific breakfast. We have traveled in the UK for twenty years and stay in B & B's often - this is in our top 2 or 3 out of close to 100 over the years. The host are special.
It had everything that I needed, car parking at the door, very functional room, nice decor, tea/coffee tray with biscuits thrown in, shower gel and hand soap, fresh towels, everything very clean. Superb breakfast in the morning. Friendly but not 'in your face' hosts.
The very friendly owner who was waiting for us to arrive from Liverpool.
She gave us a great suggestion for dinner at a local pub and her
hospitality was first class. Breakfast was very good. Room spacious and
comfortable. Street that the Lodge is on was also quiet.
The b&b is so comfortable, clean, great breakfast and spacious. We really enjoyed the camera obscura at the museum and nearby carveleroch castle and surrounds too. Susie was such a lovely host with lots of helpful advice. Had a great time!.
The double en-suite room was very well appointed. The bed was very comfortable and the furnishings and decor were very fresh and clean. I made a mistake ordering breakfast but it was no trouble for the owners to change it on the morning.
Incredibly clean & friendly. Flexible on using the breakfast room ie could get my bfast myself early before leaving & allowed to heat up a meal for supper. Good heating, excellent bath which filled up really quickly.
Derek & Suzy are excellent hosts and we received a warm welcome. The room was very clean and perfect for us. Excellent breakfast. We would definitely stay at the Torbay again.

Dumfries is known for it's seagull problem and unfortunately they seem to congregate around that part of town where the Torbay is. Didn't get much sleep after 4:00 am.
No mirror on the dressing table for doing my make up - a small point though.

in spite of having filled in forms for breakfast my wife was not given what she ordered and the toast never arrived.
