  The Ivy Lodge itself was elegant and clean. Upon entering it felt like I was walking into my inviting and ornate home of my dreams. Fresh flowers decorating the tables every day, candy set out by the entrence. My room had all the eccessories to make it comfortable, including a fireplace, flat screen tv with dvd player, and a cozy chair to relax in... was die leute sagen » . The bathroom had extra supplies just incase we forgot something. The breakfast was more than I expected. Anything I could imagine to eat was availab - Darlene was very friendly and knowledgeable about the area and offered some great ideas for what to do, where to shop, where to eat, and where the locals go for fun. The Lodge offered discounted tickets to the Mansions and passes to the art museum. The breakfasts were fantastic, and it was nice to chat with the other guests during breakfast to hear what they were doing during their stay. I would highly recommend staying at the Ivy Lodge.

  This was our first Bed & Breakfast so we were a little skeptical. We were so pleased with the Inn Keeper Cindy. She went above and beyond to make sure we felt welcome, and we were comfortable. Her breakfast was fantastic but nothing topped her chocolate chip cookies! She even gave us a bag of them for our long trip home! Thanks! - The property was well maintained and the room was beautiful. The staff were very accommodating and friendly. For early risers or late night arrivals there was either a continental breakfast or fresh cookies and beverages. The full breakfast at 9am was a pleasant experience that started our day of exploring with a full belly. The room was very romantic and spacious. I will stay here again and their off season rates are very reasonable while still including the amenities.

  Stayed on 1st Fl Rm 105. Hotels location was a plus being so near Thames Street & waterfront. The underground garage was great since our car was secure while we walked all over Newport. Housekeeping inquired every night whether any thing was needed prior to morning. The bare brick walls were a nice decor/touch. Rooftop deck was nice to watch the sunset or harbor lig - This place was located in a perfect spot! Two blocks from the center of town. The building had such character and the rooms a beautiful mix of the old with the new. The staff was so helpful and friendly ( especially Jo!)! Awesome view from the top deck of the water. Lots of nice little touches....soft robes, fluffy pillows, good-nite note w/ gummy bears instead of chocolates :-)! Would definitely stay here again!

  The hotel is right in the center of everything there is to do. You can walk everywhere except to the mansions and then the Visitors Center is only a block away and you can get a bus to take you to the mansions. Our car never left the parking lot. The staff was extremely nice and helpful. They gave excellent directions to nearby sights. Parking, although extra, was conveniently located across the street; just a few steps from the inn. Breakfast, which was included, was "just right" and was located in a homey and warm living room like location.

  I had guests from Florida and wished to show them where I had grown up in Newport. There was no way I could have afforded two rooms anywhere else. They were relatively clean, the bed was comfortable and it was a good basic room with refrigerator and microwave.   We stayed in room 205 the queen /spa tub we loved it! it was like we had a suite. you walked through 1 door there was a siting are dining and kitchen then down the hall were 4 guest rooms .we had one guest room but never saw the other couples just their wine in frig it was like our own little suite .the bed was very comfortable tub was relaxing.If... was die leute sagen » you went away with 3 other couples it would be perfect. - I loved the architecture, how it felt like you were in a home away from home, the closeness to shops, attractions and the beach, the staff was very friendly and accommodating, the breakfast was delicious with a wide variety of selections you could make and it was overall a very gorgeous place

  Our hostess was very informative about Newport's history and it's surrounding area . She made us very welcome . She explained that the hot entree at breakfast was just one choice which changed daily but was happy to make us something else if we didn't like it . We needn't have worried . When we checked out I told her I suspected it would be the best breakfa - This Inn was a jewel in our east coast journey. It was also the most expensive night for us, but in Newport, you have to expect a higher price. We were happy that we could park the car in their lot, and walked where we wanted to until we checked out the next day. We did the Cliff walk early in the morning, the best time in the heat of the summer. This Inn is truly a treasure!

  Enjoyed the facility itself, but the staff made our stay more pleasurable. The location was within walking distance to almost all of Newport. I will go again. - I love that the hotel is unique and desn't feel like any chain hotel. I also love the history of the hotel and that it has been open since 1929.

My husband and I spent five nights at the Marshal Slocum Inn and were impressed with the attention to detail -- from the elegantly appointed breakfast to the lovely rooms to the cotton bathrobes. Mark is a wonderful host who has created a relaxing homey atmosphere in a historic area of Rhode Island. The location of the Inn is perfect for seeing all of the sites.
