We used it as a base to tour surrounding areas, perfect for our purpose. Good breakfasts, nice evening meals.   The room was lovely and the service was excellent. Since we were exploring the area around Selkirk and had only one day, we did not have time to hunt for restaurants.   We were only there for one night and did not eat in the evening as we were in the castle at a wedding. Room was fine and the bed was really cosy! The breakfast was good and well presented.   After conversation with the owners we ended up staying at Coldstream Bank House rather than Duns House, as it was more convenient for us. It was excellent, beautiful accommodation, very comfortable and a lot of thought had been put into the rooms. The owners Jon and Marilyn are both friendly and welcoming (as are the dogs!) and they went above and beyond to ensure we wanted for nothing during our time with them.   My second stay at this hotel. This is a big old Scottish house and feels very special compared with many of the more "standard type" hotels I stay in when travelling on business.
