  We liked the Japanese traditional accommodations. The staff was very helpful with directions and even called our taxi driver when my son left his watch in the room when we had already checked out.   We were offered free upgrade to a villa when they do not have any non-smoking room available. The place is extremely comfortable and cosy. Our room was upgraded to a suite close to Gion Hatanaka. The suite was large, quiet and comfortable. We also enjoyed the kaiseki dinner as well as Geisha show. It was marvellous. When I asked them something (like recommendation for the transport to various sites or good restaurants nearby), they were willing to help and their suggestions and recommendations fit my needs.
