  The staff at Gion Maifukan could not have done enough to help us. They were attentive without being intrusive and after the first night moved us to a bigger room to accommodate the four of us. Gion Maifukan is right in the centre of the Gion and couldn't be in a better or more charming location.   We liked the Japanese traditional accommodations. The staff was very helpful with directions and even called our taxi driver when my son left his watch in the room when we had already checked out. The tatami sleepers for 5 was fun for our family although slightly uncomfortable at first.   We were offered free upgrade to a villa when they do not have any non-smoking room available. The place is extremely comfortable and cosy. The staff was so helpful when my friend did not feel well around the time of the checkout and mentioned we could stay till she was feelling ok and the personal touch on offering assistance just could not be fo... wat mensen zeggen » und in the 5 star hotel chains. - Our 2 nights-stay in the hotel was amazing. Our room was upgraded to a suite close to Gion Hatanaka. The suite was large, quiet and comfortable. We also enjoyed the kaiseki dinner as well as Geisha show. It was marvellous. The hotel staff was professional and helpful. They could communicate in English. I wish I could stay longer.

  A hidden door at the foot of the Yasaka shrine in Kyoto leads to a flight of rock stairs.... This was an amazing cultural experience. It allows the visitor a trip to another time with a tradition Japanese Inn (Royokan) served with an exquisitely prepared kaiseki banquet and large Japanese ( or Western style) breakfast. The wait staff and the lovely woman who welcomed us to our rooms were wonderful, friendly and spoke goo - Where does one start with Yuzuya? I stayed for two glorious nights and the place is amazing. Worth every penny: the room is beautiful, with antiques and everything just so. The highlight is the food! I had two dinners and both were some of the best food I have ever eaten. Exquisitely presented on Kyoto pottery, each dish was a work of art. Breakfast was also amazing. This is a very special place- stay here if you can. When I asked them something (like recommendation for the transport to various sites or good restaurants nearby), they were willing to help and their suggestions and recommendations fit my needs. The hotel was very convenient location-wise and it was very comfortable as a whole. A minute away was a nice breakfast place and in and around the station there were numerous eating places for dinner. The Ryokan was spotlessly clean and the staff friendly and helpful in supplying maps and information on sightseeing.

  I arrived quite late to check in as we had come from far away. They were very helpful and showed us around while they brought our bags to the room. They had already set up our room and beds. The right location for SPA resort with beautiful scenery. Well train and helpful staff. Good food with good service. Nice Japanese room and hot spring bath.   It was our first time staying in ryokan. Staff was extreemly friendly and helpful. The room itself is big. Both Japanese and Western breakfast are delicious. Public bath is very nice. Location is just perfect, close to all kinds of restaurants, shopping area, Gion, subway - everything is at hand.

  The hotel's location was great. It was in the Gion area, a few blocks away from Gion's corner. In front of the hotel bikes are available to rent which is very convenient to visit the shrines which are far away. The hotel rooms are spacious and very comfortable. Very close to a major Shinto shrine, temples, beautiful parks, interesting shopping avenues, and sophisticated neighborhoods. The ryokan's staff was perhaps too attentive but friendly, and there was great attention to details and aesthetics.
