  The stay was fantastic. The room (number 7) was big and very comfortable with everything you need and more, plus a great view over the lake. The public lounge was so well decorated and really cosy as well as having plenty of games (including pool table). The breakfasts were really good and the hosts, Jacqui, Nancy & Sid were so welcoming, know... was die leute sagen » ledgable and interesting. It is also only about 25mins to Algonquin national park. - Nancy and Sid were extremely welcoming and helpful. The inn has a huge patio that overlooks the lake. There is a beach and great lake for swimming. They also have canoes to use. Historic beautiful old building. On our last day they invited us to stay as long as we liked and use the beach and patio. If I am ever in that beautiful area again I will definitely plan a return visit to The Portage Inn.

  The hosts were lovely and the swimming was great! The beds were really comfortable, and the motel room had a cute little kitchenette which served our purposes quite nicely. A very relaxing getaway. - We liked the down to earth comfort of the motel.

  Fairly conveniently situated and easy to get to. We didn't see a dining room but this seems to be normal outside of the bigger cities in Canada. The room was comfortable enough for the short time we stayed. - I have stayed at this hotel on four occasions and have found the employees and services to be first class.
