  Beautiful grounds and a setting with an ambience of the old Hawaii. The restaurant is excellent. We have been to Maui many times but had not been to Hana. We booked the Travaasa Hana for one night because it was the one nice hotel available. After arrival, we decided to extend another night and that made the experience really special. But then, hostels and the global traveli - I stayed 5 nights at the hostel and it was great! Roommates are from different places of the world and most of them are very friendly and I made a lot of friends there. It was October and not so noisy as I expected in the night, which was good, and it was fairly convenient and economic for a backpacker to stay. Mostly importantly, the location was extremely good and it was just a couple of minutes to the beach.

  We liked the price and that the rooms were spacious. We loved having two balconies and that the room had dishes and a kitchen if we wanted to cook. The location was close to the strip and trolley stop right in front of the door. There was also a convenient ABC in the lobby. I had a problem with the air conditioner in my room making clunking sounds when turned off and I was all prepared to demand a new room, however, after reporting it to the front desk it was fixed by maintenance by the time I returned in the afternoon.   Stayed here for 1 night just to sleep after a late night flight in before moving onto the beach front. Staff were friendly and offered us a free upgrade. Room was very clean though dated. Although away from the beach it is really only a few minutes away and you can still see the ocean.
