  We were amazed! Not wanting the formality of a hotel and having stayed in luxury apartments in coastal resorts for our summer holidays we thought we would try The Lawrance. I wouldn't hesitate to send anyone there the atmosphere was fantastically relaxing it had a very homely feel to it and was within 10 minutes stroll of the Lowthers pub, 5 minutes from the river and 2 Minutes from 'the wall' conspicuous in York.   We really enjoyed our stay at the Ashbourne House. The room was fantastic and very inviting. The breakfast was very good and included many choices. Also, they provided us with a babycot and a highchair. There was a variety of complimentary teas and coffee in the room along with a clean water pitcher and cups.
