We liked the nearness of the City but just out far enough to have a quiet feel. It was about 15 minutes from railway station so we were able to walk and it was about 20 minutes to centre of town. The staff were very nice, accommodation excellent and breakfast amazing, especially if you have a big appetite!!!!!! Dinner on a half-board basis was excellent but I imagine would not always suit everyone. It was more upmarket and you had to pay a supplement on some dishes. . We were happy with this an.
所有评语 » We thought the suite was beautiful. The bed was so, so comfortable and the layout of the room very much to our liking. The whole suite was "quality". The breakfast was immense and kept us going until early evening. The staff we met were very polite and very attentive. The area outside our suite was very nice but the weather wasn't conducive to sitting outside. I would recommend "Mount Royale" very highly! Convenient to the city and all its attractions. This was a last minute decision for night away and booked The Mount Royal at last minute. We had not been to hotel before and absolutely loved it. The bedroom was lovely, evening meal in restaurant delicious, breakfast fabulous, swimming pool and hot tub an unexpected treat (especially on a hot sunny day) and the service second to none. Will definitely go back. The staff were extremely welcoming from the moment you check in. They were attentive and made you feel very special. We stayed during bank holiday and it was truly lovely. There's a wonderful outdoor heated swimming pool and hot tub hidden in their secret garden. The rooms were clean and spacious and breakfast was truly award winning. we will be going back. We were given a free upgrade to a Garden Suite, without asking - a beautiful suite that had french windows leading onto the garden. Unfortunately we visited on a snowy day in March but the photo's of it in the summer looked lovely. Excellent breakfast, friendly staff and a lovely little bar ideal for a night cap before bed. Throughout our stay we were made to feel very welcome and treated with every consideration by all members of staff. The high standard of food and the attention to service at all meals was excellent. A most relaxing weekend in a wonderful hotel accommodation in an ideal location near the city centre. Highly recommended. The Staff were very welcoming and friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them (even moving the vehicle to a better spot). The Hotel itself was beautiful the interior and gardens were reminiscent of a country home. The Oxo restaurant is a MUST, the food is amazing!! A definite return visit to this hidden gem!!!. We had a lovely 2 night stay in one of the suite rooms with direct access to the garden. All staff were found to be very friendly and professional. The OXO restaurant was very good and the food was excellent. The suites with direct access to the garden are excellent. The garden to the rear of the hotel is lovely. Location - 10 mins walk from the middle of York. Staff were very friendly and incredibly helpful. The hotel food, both breakfast and evening meal, were terrific and delivered with smiles! The executive double room booked for our anniversary weekend was delightful. A really wonderful weekend. Thank you. The building is a charming building in an excellent location with superb facilities. I was lucky enough to stay in one of the Garden Suites which was simply out of this world. The staff are of an extremely high quality, all of which adds up to one of the best hotel experiences I have ever had. The staff were really attentive and we could not have had better service. We were greeted and shown to our room which was spacious and well equipped . The good was amazing and we really enjoyed using the sauna and. Jacuzzi. The location is excellent! Homely feel without feeling like you're in someone's home, BREAKFAST! wow. highly recommend this for an alternative to the usual sterile hotel suite you'd pay more money for. The staff: welcoming, friendly, professional, helpful; the food: different from the usual (although the menu did not change over the three days we were there), amazing breakfasts; interesting hotel, not your usual run of the mill, modern place. We were upgraded to an executive room free of charge. Breakfast choice was amazing. Staff really put themselves out and were very helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Location is excellent and has on site parking. Very clean and tidy. Leaving the car at the hotel made for easy walking distance for visiting all York has to offer. Dining room out of action due to tech fault and not visited, but breakfast first class and perfectly presented. We had a lovely break and we had our small dog, the staff were excellent with her, when they say dog friendly that's exactly what they mean. The breakfast is the best I have ever had BRILLIANT. 1. The vintage/antique theme was unspoiled by modern technology and practicalities. To be honest there was nothing we didnt like and would recommend to everyone. Nothing - just wished we had booked in for longer. Not one thing we didn't like. Car parking was a little tight but didn't affect us terribly. The fact the pool, sauna and hot tub closed at 8pm (but that was due to the fact that I didn't arrive to check in at the hotel till 8:30pm - not exactly their fault!!). shower head wobbly and was taped up, maybe replace that one. DVD player didn't play the dvds we brought along with us. It's a bit shabby, although clean. Redecoration is overdue. The attached restaurant was not as good as the aa rosettes would suggest, but ok. The rather wishy washy 'turbot special' turned out to be £5 more than I was told by the staff earlier, and at £21.95 was definitely overpriced. Good wine list though. We had to go home...lol. The heating was on a little bit in August so our room was very warm. I cannot think of any negatives, it was a lovely stay. Thank you. only a minor nuisance was power point was not available for ease of use of hotel provided hairdryer near a mirror !. Just niggles really - Lighting too dim Draughty under window Shower head hose needs replacing Remote control for lounge tv not working Extreme bird poo on car parked under trees!. Nothing. The only rating I didn't give as excellent was cleanliness because I found a long black hair on the bed. This couldn't have been mine as i'm a baldy. Bathroom was looking a bit tired would benefit from an upgrade. Meals and drinks very expensive - food and service good but did not warrant a £90 tag on a meal for 2. Bedroom dusty and lights not working - bathroom and shower in need of decoration and attention. I am a tall person and found the beams a bit too low in our room, also the bed had a base board which made sleeping a little uncomfortable. I feel that the hotel could do with a major refurbishment. I also felt that the dining staff needed to be much more proffesional. They did not fit in with the very high quality of the food. This did not apply to the breakfast room where it was excellent. Breakfast could be improved with provision of fresh grapefruit not tinned and freshly squeezed fruit juices. The only thing we would change the 'double bed' in the room we were in was actually 2 singles pushed together, which was slightly uncomfortable. Bathroom slightly dated but ample hot water and spotlessly clean,what else do you need!. Rather noisy main road, next time we will ask for a room facing the back if there is one. Would have liked a chair so that I could type (but of course I should have asked for one) The bacon was surprisingly ordinary,not as special as expected. our room (number 19) was very hot even though the radiators were not on. The steam room and sauna were supposed to be on all the time, but I had to ask for them to be turned on. The pool changing room was locked on both occasions I used the pool (early evening). Fake library wallpaper in the bar and some other rather tired decor. Nothing. little bit 80s , but i love the 80s. nothing. would like to pay a bit less but everyone likes a deal. Found a few unwanted hairs in the shower/bathroom.
