The room was clean and comfortable, the staff friendly and the breakfast was excellent. Very helpful staff concidering not booked by your end. The staff were very friendly and very helpful. pleasant staff and friendly atmosphere. Public area very relaxing lounge. I was allocated one of the upgraded rooms which are better than those which still need upgrade.

The staff and food was agood standard. Nothing. We were no allowed to have clean towels if we stayed more then one night, our room looked ono the kitchen and smokers court yard.open fire area in the bar with comfortable chairs, where we went to after we arrived as the bedroom was freezing. Lady serving breakfast was very pleasant. Evening meal was ok and good beer. Free wireless in room. helpful staff and reasonable meals. clean bed. Nothing about the hotel, met nice people in the bar!!!. The room was too hot, easily remedied by turning the heating down and opening the windows. The only complaint would be that there was a window with no curtains in our bedroom and we were slightly worried about people looking in. not a great choice on the menu for dinner. Room was a bit basic - no toilet roll holder per example! For the price we paid, this is expected. Parts of hotel are in need of renovation. Carpets in corridors need replacement.The TV did not work!. The Restaurant was not open for business on Saturday Evening??!. Couldn't believe that they had no bacon for breakfast!. Would be better for breakfast to finish at 10am not 9am. Food smells from kitchen coming into room through window vent. Shower not working. Cold restaurant. The drawers in the bedroom had not been emptied and contained clothes, underwear, sweets and crisps. decoration and furniture of our room was rather tired.It was tired, in need of some redecoration, the ceiling and floors need a deep clean and some attention - particularly in the corridor the floor bounced and felt unsafe. Many items in the rom did not work - shower, some lights, heating. Interior corridors, they need attention. For the quality I believe the price was alittle high. Bad Language near the bar, my wife was embarassed bar staff should have stopped this.Old fashioned, bathroom was poor,. They seem to have run out of many items? drinks, foodstuffs etc (no bacon at breakfast!). Decor dated, cleaning OK but not brilliant, shower arrangements strange. But hotel was full and I booked late - other rooms may have been better. Room and bathroom was very 'tired' and could do with decorating. Shower was poor. Corridors were dirty in places and carpet was rather threadbare.The hotel needs a refurbishment, carpets on way to bedrooms aredisgusting, shower rooms are not very good. Bit shoddy. very dusty - parts of the rooms had not been cleaned for months. Also, the incompentence of the staff regarding transferring calls to rooms. rooms in need of update looking very tired and old fashion. matress was really bad ,the room was dated and very rough. Saturday morning arrived at 8am for breakfast only to be seated and and then told we could not have our order taken at the moment as she was serving someone. There was only one waitress who clearly could not cope, when we finaly ordered breakfast, it was wrong, fried egg instead of scrambled and the tea was as cold as ice. We were in a hurry as we had to be somewhere, so we didnt complain.The fact that the bedroom curtains were not hung correctly and fell off the runners. There was no fresh fruit at breakfast on Saturday and still non on Sunday together with running out of orange juice. Non of the juices or milk were chilled they were all standing on a table in the ambient temperature of the dining area. Room freezing when we arrived/light bulbs missing/beds not made second day or cups cleaned etc/we were checked out mid day when we were staying another night/ they realised this when staff went to the room and saw our stuff/door was then left open so anyone could have stolen it/no real apology and we were quite pleasant about it as we had a stressful weekend attending hospital with our son/. Several problems from having a disgusting kettle, to no hot water next morning. Getting up for breakfast at 8.30, room was uncleared, no fresh coffee, and staff were more concerned with setting up for a function than looking after the clientele. room facilities were of a very poor nature,no bedside table,power points across the room from tea making facilities,no power point near a mirror my wife found it a impossible task to get ready to go to the party we were going to,no mirror in bathroom so i could not get shaved,no curtain up at one of the bedroom windows,the light switch in the bathroom was hanging out of the ceiling,the toilet did. service my wife asked about evening food and was told 6:30 to 9:30 see came down at 8:45 to be told there was no food as it was finished we were leaving at 5;00am and was asked would we like a continental breakfast yes we replied we was up at 4:30 the night porter was asleep on the couch in the lounge our breakfast order was on the desk no food very disappointed. The room was very small - at £60 a night very expensive for what you got, the shower so hot I couldn't stand under it and breakfast staff curt!. Evening meal was not cooked properly and had to be re done, which took an hour, husbands was re heated and came back shrivelled up. room was appauling, sink was hanging off wall, shower didn't work properly, tiles were full of mildew, there was an obsrtuction in the corridor, it was dirty, carpet stunk, dips in the floor boards. I have never stayed anywhere so bad in my life. £100????. On arrival the staff were unfriendly and the room was scruffy. The television didn't work and neither did the shower. On informing the management little was done. The surrounding rooms were occupied by a school trip making sleep impossible.
