A hotel within a country club The well maintained Residence is located on the third floor of a country club in town, and comprises of 26 rooms and 2 suites, facing either the Padang (cricket lawn) or the city. The swimming pool which is located at the corner of the basement, which feels like a pond within a cave. Cleanliness did not disappoint. The bed in my room was soft yet firm, the duvet very comfortable (i checked - the duvet has a changeable cover!) and the atmosphere was comforting an.
所有评语 » The hotel is in a great location in the colonial district kitty corner to Raffles Hotel, walking distance to Singapore Flyer, subway, Hop On Hop Off Bus, countless shopping centres and restaurants, the river and boat quay, Marina Bay Sands Hotel and much more. There was a fair bit of traffic noise as our room overlooked the front road...mainly seemed like background type noise and didn't disturb our sleep. Somewhat odd room. The hotel rooms are on the third floor, upper level of the club. Not s. It was unique accommodation. The Residences is one floor of the exclusive Singapore Recreation Club which was established in the 1800s. All the club's facilities were available to those staying in the Residences. The Club is very colonial and has a very interesting history and is joined across the cricket fields to the famous Singapore Cricket Club. It was very central to shopping and MRT which leads to all areas of Singapore. The Marina is walking distance and the famous Raffles Hotel is 2 blo. SRC: was a great experience in one of the top-notch membership clubs in Singapore. Unfortunately, I reached the City State with a heave delay in the night but I met a great, friendly and proactive staff. Immediately, I was feeling home. By the way, Mr. Duncan Roberts (Resident Manager) met during the next morning made my trip pleasant with a touch of English old school professionalism. At that time really hard to find in other hotels. My impression was to stay in an club around Old Bond Street. A charming and practical place to stay. Although the rooms were not overly large, you generally only sleep there, so it is no big deal. Location was fantastic. Breakfast was very good, if you went hungry, you only had yourself to blame. Should possibly have a little more eastern food for breakfast buffet, leaning a little too much towards our typical western food. When in Rome....... We stayed for 2 nights and on our return from our cruise, they allowed us to leave our luggage there for th. The hotel is in a very good location (a couple of minutes walk from Raffles hotel) and just across the road from the underground. Our bedroom was comfortable and very well appointed although we felt it was a little small compared to many of the others we saw along the corridor. A self-service breakfast with a reasonable choice is served downstairs in the basement near the swimming pool and we found the snacks in the Barker Lounge were also good value. Access to the swimming pool and sauna was u. The location was excellent. Close to MRT which we used every day. We stayed 6 days before our cruise and found the staff were helpful too. The food in the poolside cafe was extremely cheap, especially considering the prices in Singapore. We found breakfast fine for us as we are not "fancy or fussy" breakfast eaters. We thought the meals in the cafe were extremely reasonably priced and ate there quite often. Our room overlooked the Padang which was lovely and relaxing. Bed was extremely co. I had a large, well appointed room, with all the mod cons: free wi-fi, large flat-screen TV, and tea and coffee making facilities. My bed was big and very comfortable, and the bathroom was spacious. My room was very quiet. The hotel is within walking distance to Orchard Road, Clarke Quay, Marina Bay Sands and The Esplanade. Guests could use the Recreation Club's facilities. I liked that I could store my luggage after I checked out and then have a shower when I picked it up. Can highly recommend. The location is GREAT! It has MRT station just across the street as well as a big mall which is very convenient for shopping and dining. The free shuttle bus to Universal Studios comes every half hour at Swissotel which is also across the street - super convenient. The hotel itself is compact and clean, and the room has just everything you need. I feel that the room rate concerning the quality and service of the hotel (not to mention inclusive breakfast and free wi-fi), it is overall a great de. The src was a great experience. Staff went extra mile. Husband wanted to watch a special football event and they searched around until they found a club that was viewing it and made arrangements for him to be a special member for the evening. The spas, hot and cold pools, saunas, swimming pool etc were refreshing. Close to food outlets and mrt. Breakfast was good. There was a selection of other restaurants at hotel as well as a budget poolside restaurant. Very highly recommend. There is great h. Great staff, especially Runy and Selan at main desk level 3 - Nothing was too much trouble and they did a remarkable job to make sure our stay was memorable. Our 6 day stay was exceptional, well priced and easy location to main shopping/Sentosa/china town etc. Subsidised bar from Recreation club, meaning a glass of Tiger beer at $5 (SD) compared with $15 (SD) at Carlton Hotel where other friends stayed. Modern hotel with a colonial feel,everything was perfect for a short break in Singapore.Location 10 staff 10 food 10(try the evening buffet at only 19 s-d )the room we had (315)had a great view over the city and the playing fields so we awoke to the sound of leather on willow as the cricket teams took to the field.....all in all a very nice relaxing two night break.p/s if you get the chance don't miss the phantom of the opera at the bay sands theatre a terrific performance. The Club is in an excellent location in the heart of the old colonial district with our room overlooking the Singapore cricket club pitch and the preserved green area at the heart of the city.Idealy situated for shopping, eating, culture and history. The un missable Raffles Hotel, and Boat Quay are just a ten minute walk away. Some minor criticisms of the facilites but, overall, our stay was good value for money. Would recommend as a short city stop-over at a reasonable price. Position is simply perfect - views unbeatable. Situated in the colonial area and close to Raffles, a beautiful upmarket shopping complex and the railway station or a cab at the front door. Rooms are modern, tasteful with upmarket pieces. Beds comfy with modern bathroom. Breakfast is a highlight - just go and enjoy. Not the Hilton touches but very lovely and you won't be disappointed. Greaat value with best views too. Ask for Padang view - looks towards city. We paid for the standart room from letsbookhotel.com but they gave us the president room without extra charge.We were surprised for their generousity. The hotel staffs were nice and very helpfull for everything we need. The room is very clean and also the bathroom. The hotel location is very strategic because this hotel is near of the City Hall MRT Station so it made us easy to go everywhere and also near the mall and restaurants. The location is excellent ! Right across the street is City Hall MRT and Raffles City. It was only a 15-20 minutes walk to Marina Bay Sands along the Esplanade and on the Helix Bridge. Although the rooms and bathroom were small compared to larger hotels, the view from my room was good. It's a breath of fresh air looking at the Padang compared to looking at a neighbouring building or rooftops. After travelling throughout Asia we were very amazed at the poor standard of living.Then we arrived in Singapore---So fresh,clean,well disapplined kids,no graffiti,no tattoos or studs and lip earings to turn your stomach inside out.everyone was happy--- There is no crime and we wish the world partically Australia would take a note out of their book.Well done Singapore. Buffet breakfast included. Late plane but was able to have shower in very well equipped shower/change facilities poolside. No hesitation in recommending. Loved the location - easy access to everywhere in Singapore. Excellent accommodation in a Club with Gym facilities and a pool. Value for money poolside restaurant. Also as we had a late flight out, we were able to leave our luggage free of charge and could have a shower before we left in the Gym showers with towels provided, free of charge. Very well located. Close to marina, MRT station across street. They let Us use all lesure area (pool, shower) when We arrived early and after We checkd out ! The Residence is incorporated in the Singapore Recreation Club. The accommodations are basic yet comfortable. Breakfast and wifi are included which made this a value. The location is very convenient with an mrt station and Raffles Shopping center within steps of the door. Walking distance to Marina Bay, downtown, Clark Quay is also a plus. Location right between City Hall mrt station and Marina Bay. Cosy luxury - only 26 rooms all fully equipped with everything. Views of Singapore over the "Padang". Good value meals in Poolside cafe and an excellent breakfast was included in the room rate. If we ever return to Singapore we would without question try to stay there again. The staff, especially Runy, at Reception, went to so much trouble to make sure we were aware of all the facilities that the club offered. We appreciated being able to have a shower on the evening of check-out before our 1am flight. I appreciated the insistence on dress codes and quiet, traditional manners. Excellent service provided by the manager Duncan..without his kind efforts we would have missed our connection to Mersing and Tioman Island..he went well and truly out of his way to provide world class service to my wife and I.Thoroughly recommend this Hotel!!Five Stars!. Great location with easy access to main attractions by walking. Very close to the City Hall subway station and Raffles City shopping mall. Good value of money in comparison with other hotels around. Reasonable breakfast. Comfortable bed and handy facilities in the room. I think the service and spaciousness of the Residence is nicer than many other hotels of similar price. It is very quiet but just a stone's throw away from the City Hall mrt Station and places of interest. The breakfast is also good. We felt like home away from home!. We were very happy with the service. the friendly and helpful staff, particularly when I became ill and Mr.Duncan Roberts was extremely helpful in taking my husband and myself across to the Medical Clinic in the Raffles City building and his follow up attention. The location is kitty corner across from the Raffles shopping mall and the city hall subway. Perfect for close shopping or getting anywhere in Singapore. As a private club the dining was very good and amazingly economical. A comfortable and pleasant experience!. Being able to use the sporting and recreational facilities of the Club. Being able to continue to use the facilites after checking out if you have a night flight; which meant you were able to shower, change, have a meal or snack etc before going to the airport. A very comfortable bed in a great location with fabulous views from the verandah. The staff were helpful and the shower on departure was a plus. It is not a large hotel, and the rooms are on the small size. I think this hotel should market itself as boutique. We enjoyed our long very much.Would highly recommend The Redsidence!. It was comfortable and clean and whilst not cheap was a better price than other well located hotels in Singapore. They include breakfast in the price which most don't seem to do. The location is fantastic - near to all the must sees of Singapore. The central location. It was very conveniently located across the street of Raffles Convention Center and of MRT station City Hall. Rooms (especially with 2 single beds) are very spacious. Breakfast is nice and staff is very friendly. Living amongst the locals. Frequented mostly by SRC members who are friendly. The menu! Too cosy and too comfortable that my bf did not want to do anything at all that would involve being outside the room. Unusual room configuration but this was not a problem as we spent little time in the room. The air conditioning was too fierce in many of the public places (Barker Lounge)!. At first we found the room a little dark, but we got used to it. The hot water only lasted long enough for one shower, then we waited about 1 hour for the hot water again. Room smelt a bit musty and there was mould above the air conditioning vent, so we bought air freshner and this solved the problem. My room smelled strange... maybe cooking smells wafting up from the cafe?. If the room could be a little bigger, it would be even better!. Nothing to dislike. A little dated but facilities and staff made up for that. "Nothing" Very happy with everything. nothing. Dark rooms despite the recent renovations. Adequate choice for breakfast by friendly staff but served in a dingy 'cafe' type venue adjacent to the indoor swimming pool. This lets the whole experience down badly. The outside facade of building and the griunds could be neater and more polished looking. Strong smell of chlorine during breakfast as the cafe is right next to the indoor pool. Corridors were narrow and felt claustrophobic at times. Nothing, all good! !. Steps down into the room. Rooms are small, advisable for single or couple only. Nothing I can think of. Nothing to say here..was all good!!. Noisy - as it is located at a conjunction of three roads. Decoration is a bit worn-down. Lighting in the basement (where the swimming pool and restaurant are located) is dim. The three steps in the bedroom, which my husband tripped down three times. Also the poor lighting and brown carpet in the bedroom. Nothing. Breakfast is served in their pool cafe. I accept that it is primarily a recreation club, dating back to 1883, but with a little updating and imagination, this could be transformed into a boutique eatery. With 25 odd rooms, there should be breakfast on order instead of a mass of food in Bain-Marie's. Room for improvement there. Again, for the price, market as boutique. Rooms could use a little more internal lighting - we were provided with an extra pedestal lamp which worked very well. Breakfast buffet could do with a little variety for vegetarians, some days there was hardly any choice. Here again, the Poolside Cafe staff whipped up some vegetarian soup & noodles,. The snooty dress code which makes people in ordinary travelling clothes which would be perfectly acceptable in the best of the world's hotels, feel a little less than completely welcome. They don't worry you about it but it still leaves a bit of a poor taste in the mouth. The underground pool is creepy - too dark, dank and humid. Better lighting might improve its ambience and likewise that of the cafe which overlooks it. Lack of shelving in the bathroom, as well as lack of drawer and cupboard space in the room. Air conditioning either too cold, or too warm. The adjustment was poor. Taxi confused by name as know as src locally!. Lighting in room was too dim to see properly. Fridge in room was not cooling. Rooms above a Fitness Club means taking breakfast along side the gym. Bedroom small especially shower room but adequate. Dress code mis leading smart clothes would be out of place. Dingy bar no dining room. Our room was so cold, the housekeeping staff had the temp.set at 16 degrees & it took a long time to warm to a comfortable level after raising to mid 20's. 1.Toilet doesn't flush thoroughly. 2.Shower area should have curtain so that water does not splash out. 3.The room lights are dim. Rooms very small. A lot of the Poolside cafe staff didn't speak or understand English and brought wrong orders continually and a Black hair in one meal put me right off. Don't eat there - plenty of other places to eat. Got a twin room instead of a doubble, but were moved the first day. The room is a little dark and the pool is too warm to be refreshing. Some might be put off by the dress code: no shorts and no shirts without collars, etc. Beds were a bit hard. Air-con was too cold, and could not be adjusted. Underground pool not inviting,would rather bask by an above ground pool. Room was a little cramped, but quite comfy enough. An arm chair in the room would have been great, but there was a desk and chair. AC should have been turned on prior to our arrival. Perhaps they could have asked for our flight arrival time when we booked and judged by that when to turn on AC. Sometimes noisy, we where next to reception so could hear conversations through the door. We had a permanent wet spot in the carpet near the bathroom, no one seemed concerned about it. The pool side café is indeed near the pool, the pool however was in the basement, while I had expected to be outside, so this was a bit of a dissapointment to me. Moreover, the hotel is located on the 3rd floor and if you enter and you are very bluntly be redirected to the elevator it feels a bit strange. It isn't at B Connaught. The address is more correctly Stamford drive. Took our cab driver a fair while to find it.
