We really liked the views from the hotel of the mountains and over the town of Takayama. The staff was very friendly and their English was good enough. The hotel is huge and though it might seem old, it still preserves the style and grace from back in the day when it was built. The onsen was great, with a bath inside and outside, separated for men

Excellent hotel. We had a wonderful stay: beautiful public bath, spacious tradicional rooms with amazing view of the city. Extremely helpful staff although do not speak a lot of English. Breakfast was included and if was delicious!! As it is quite far away from the station they offer a shuttle free bus to the station at mornings.
They even gave us a traditional tissue as a gift!!
