  Everyone was extremely friendly just as expected from true Japanese place. A person from the ryokan met us halfway from the station, showed the way and helped with the luggage, though we have not even told ryokan about the time we plan to arrive! I believe those guys patrol the area each time a train arrives just in case. We had 4 nights at half board (meaning breakfast and dinner is included in the price) The staff were really friendly and not afraid to engage with us even though we had little Japanese and their English was mostly job specific. Our room was Japanese tatami mats and really big. The beds were put out at night while we had dinner. The food at breakfast and dinner was totally awesome and very Japanese with sashimi and sukiyaki

  As soon as I stepped into the Hotel I was amazed by the decor and traditional interior design. A staff member said I couldn't check in before 3pm (it was 12.30pm) but he said I could leave my bag there. So I left the building and went for my excursion to the Shirakawa-Go Unesco Village and came back around 7pm and he kindly checked me in. Awesome ... 别人怎么说 » stay. The private onsen was incredible and clean. WOW I will be back - I really like the onsen in Takayama Ouan. They have 3 private onsen to choose. So if you don't want to go to public onsen they've other option. The breakfast is great and a lot of choices. My family really enjoyed the breakfast. Location is good also close to the train station. You can just walked for 5 minutes to the hotel from the station.

  Beautiful atmosphere. Authentic traditional as opposed to modern renovation to look traditional, so don't expect top o' the range furnishings. Felt real special as they display your name on the board out the - The reception staff were very polite, friendly and helpful. The Japanese style breakfast was delicious. The restaurant staff excellent. Location great for easy walking distance to sightseeing attractions restaurants and shopping including the morning market by the bridge. Japanese style Bath/Spa is excellent. Taking off our shoes and using hotel slippers everywhere you walk inside the hotel. Our two pieces of luggage were carried up to the 3rd floor for check-in and picked up for check-out.

  Great location- only a short walk to the old town and morning markets. Plenty of great places to eat in the surrounding streets. The onsen on site was a real treat! And it was nice to use their sister hotel's onsens which are walking distance from the ryokan. We loved the service. We were served green tea and local Hida beef jerky on arrival.   We really enjoyed our stay, since it was our first time in a Ryokan, we were very happy that one of the staff members could speak english and explain the basic rules that we have to follow when staying in a traditional japanese Ryokan. I can recommand this Ryokan to visitors that haven't been at a Ryokan, because it was a very enjoyable - The housekeeper lady was extremely warm, friendly, helpful and knowledgeable of the city and the attractions. She made you feel very at home. My family and I stayed in Japan for 7 years as the company country president and I aware of what is good standard in Japan.
