Just to let you know we stayed for a few nights at your lovely B & B in June 1996 and my wife and I still have happy memories of our short visit while touring the East Coast of America.
In those days Vince, Dave Dawn, and two cats were our hosts, and we are delighted that your guests continue to enjoy the hospitality you now provide.
I am now 82 years old and my wife 78 we are not able to travel far these days but share wonderful memories. Should you be in touch with Vince, Dave and Dawn plea. alla recensioner »
The inn was quaint and historic ( no ghost though). The staff - Otilia
was on the entire weekend that we were there and she was amazing.
Always so helpful and always went out of her way to help us. Always had
a smile on her face no matter the time of day or night. And the
location was the best!! We could leave the car in the parking at the
Inn and walk everywhere. This was such a plus in a city where parking
was very limited.
I liked the location, we rarely used the car and got to enjoy downtown
Newport. It was clean enough and roomy. The bathroom was a bit tight and
the door was a bifold that had trouble shutting. The staff was very
pleasant whenever we spoke to them but you rarely saw them as they were
in the inn two houses down.
Absolutely loved everything about Melville House..the beautiful, historic house and neighborhood, the charming, cozy room and one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in! And, of course, location, location, location!!! I look forward to staying at Melville House again!.
Close to downtown and walking distance to harbor area, dining, and night life. Room was clean and comfortable, and nicely furnished. Staff upgraded our room, from Melville to Clarkson House. Thank you.
A fantastic wooden house dating from 1750. It was like walking into a museum and living there. It is well situated in the most attractive and oldest part of Newport.
We were in Newport for just one night and the Melville House didn't require a two-night minimum. We were able to check in early and given a choice of a few rooms.
Location to shopping and great restaurants. Nice furniture and colonial bedding and charm. Bathroom was very new and clean as well as the room was clean.
The staff were very helpful in offering us a choice or rooms. The house is right in the centre of the old district of Newport so everything is close by.
The staff was very friendly and made us feel welcome. Location was excellent, we were able to walk downtown and enjoy Newport shops and restaurants.
The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The entire property was clean and well kept and the location was beautiful overall.
The staff was very welcoming and accomodating. The room was clean and comfortable. A great value for the price.
The staff, especially the owner Rick, was very accommodating. Nice breakfast!.
Hospitality was spectacular, like each staff member was the owner.

LOVED the service, room, location!.

The booking wanted to charge extra for breakfast which we didn't
get. This was very disappointing since this was the first time that we
stayed in a Bed & breakfast.
The room was bare bones. It was clean but not amenities. The breakfast
that is advertised is two houses down in another inn owned by same
company. There was no refrigerator until we asked for one. The staff
office was down at the other inn also so when we needed anything we had
to go there to ask for it. The shower ceiling was leaking and the fan in
one room wouldn't shut off.
Breakfast was far below my expectations, especially after reading all the 5 star reviews! Nothing at all special about it..very disappointing..hoping for better next time!.
Parking was a little tough because we came back after midnight. But I think that is true throughout this section of Newport.
No phone or TV, ground floor windows hard to close and no locks, thin walls, and the bedroom door was 1 foot from the front unlocked door. Didn't feel safe but all went well in the end. I would bring a friend next time.
Low ceilings (I'm very tall) and light fixtures with fans turning at neck height!.
The bathroom and bedroom were a little bit small but perfectly adequate, clean and cozy. The walls were a bit thin and other guests could occasionally be heard but for an old house it was in excellent shape.
No big deal but the door knobs need attention ; ). Would definitely come back and recommend.
Tight quarters.
small, could hear every other guest walk and talk in the building.
Very very expensive for the services
Wifi didn't work
Breakfast was very discusting...
ceiling was peeling
very outdated appliances and blankets, pillows, etc.
Sink and shower were very small and uncomfortable. Sink was actually ridiculously small.
shower shut-off during showering. Feel like I over-payed for what I got. There was no TV.
The breakfast option was way overpriced for what was offered.
I feel ripped-off.
High price for the actual accommodations.
Room wasn't clean, staff blurted out the cost of the stay in front of my wife upon arrival.
Room was old, creaky, and not very clean. Breakfast was bland at best. We didn't even bother to eat there after the first day. Too expensive = not a good value.
Extremely old, not clean, cob webs over our bed, couldn't even turn around in shower stall it was so small and repaired on the floor of it so that it scratched your feet. No front light on when you came home and very unkept looking at the front door. VERY DISAPPOINTED!!.
