  The staff were really good and helpful. It felt secure with gated coded card access. It's not a 5 star hotel. It has dated decor has all the basics including free wifi. It looks like they are slowly renovating the hotel so I guess the room rates will go up but maybe not.   The pool was the reason why we chose the hotel. The restaurant was clean and the food was nice with the menu having lots to choose from. The daily maid service was impeccable and the staff were all very pleasant. The wi-fi worked well and was free though not quite fast enough to take large downloads like movie files well. An excellent value for the money in a very convenient location just 10-15 minutes walk to Union Square at a fraction of the price.

  Firstly the location is great. You are right at the start of the cable car which you can take over to fisherman's wharf. Room had been updated sympathetically and although not large by US standards, you could definately swing a cat if that was your thing. Don't try and video skype later in the day though. - Such a great location and great welcome from staff - it is the little touches like happy hour free drink and light breakfasts for all guests that make this place so special . For a solo traveller the opportunity to say hi to other guests and have some company at the end of a business day makes me a repeat visitor from NZ
