Charlotte and John are wonderful hosts, and their daughter (I forgot her name), too! Supper sweet friendly and considerate. There is a big porch with comfortable chairs/sofas/tables, with nice surrounding. The sitting room has huge window, and it's full of information (maps, informative postcard, wall photos, books, brochures..... ) There are a fridge and a microwave for guest use. We wish we could have stayed longer than just one night. Good location for exploring the Hamakua Coast, Hilo, Sad.
alla recensioner » The pictures and details of this B&B were exactly as advertised. It was a perfect location for our visit to the big island. Close to volcanoes national park, mauna kea, downtown Hilo,akaka falls plus other sites we were not aware of. John and Charlotte made us feel like family and they provided great tips for places we wanted to visit. If you're looking for a nice quiet place to stay on the Hilo side of the island I highly recommend Holmes Sweet Home. David Zimmerle Hendersonville, TN USA J. Very friendly "family guest" welcome. Free on-site parking and internet. Able to use kitchen facilities, store things in the fridge etc. We had little time in the room and so did not really chat much with our hosts, but have no doubt that they would be very willing to help folks staying longer than we did. The location is easy to find and very convenient for the Rainbow Falls and the Saddle Road to Kona. We stayed in the Blue Ginger suite and everything was just perfect. The neighborhood is fantastic. We had very restful nights. I liked to have a private entrance, it gives you a lot of privacy. Charlotte and her husband are wonderful and very kind host. I would definitely like to come back. The best part of our stay here was our conversations with the owners Charlotte and John. They are delightful couple who went out of there way to make us feel welcome and special while we were there. It truly feels like you are staying at your grandparents house, but with more freedom!. Our hosts made us feel very welcome and at home. They provided everything a traveler could need for a day's sightseeing such as paper plates, cooler, plastic bags, etc. Bed was very comfortable, and the frogs lulled us to sleep in the cool Hilo hills. . Exceptional couple who run the place. They went the extra mile to please us in every way. Great breakfast, lots of books, information about sites to visit in area. Huge lanai with flowers. Responded timely via email. Great hosts and a warm welcoming atmosphere. Sitting on the lanai at night listening to the frogs was like a nature lullaby! I slept like a log. The B&B is up the hill so it is cooler than down in Hilo town. John & Charlotte Holmes were both very gracious and welcoming. The room and common areas were very clean and well kept. The yard had pretty gardens. all of this for a very good price. We loved our stay. Everything is just perfect. John and Charlotte are so friendly which make us feel at our own home. Beautiful breakfast, very good traveling advice, nicely decorated room, and quiet and peaceful neighborhood. Very sweet and warm place to stay, also quiet ! Special handmade muffin/ fruit for breakfast !! I do love it !! Thank you John and Charlotte ! We do have a nice memory there !! :). Jonn and Charlotte were very sweet and great host. Fresh baked muffins for breakfast was a great start to the day. Their knowledge of the island was a help in planning our day. Charlotte and John were very helpful and provided excellent travel advice. Our room was large, comfortable and very clean. Very good value for the money. They are like our grandma and grandpa. We enjoy staying there for two nights. Hope we will come back to stay for a long time in the future. Treated like family, lovely homey decore, peaceful, owners open, friendly, honest people. Love to revisit sometime soon!. The friendly atmosphere with the owners who were always their for travel advice and discuss what to see in the area. Excellent accommodation. It has been a lovely night, we loved the people and the place. It was like having someone give you a great big hug. Staff was friendly and courteous. Very hospitable. A GPS would make it easier. The accommodation is "out of town" in an established residential district and you really need to drive to find somewhere to eat. Whilst this is not really a problem, sometimes it is nice to be able to leave the car behind and walk to somewhere in the evening. The teenage kids, although they were able to share their own room, were not as comfortable staying here as it felt like being in someone else's house. Can't think of anything. Nothing. Everything was just perfect. Home is in a neighborhood which caught us a little by surprise. All was good!. Hilo downtown is rundown. This is no reflection on the accommodation which is about 2 miles out of town with ready access to wonderful locations. Nothing I can think of. Some folks might object to the coqui frogs chirping at night (it's Hawaii!), but we enjoyed them and had no problem getting to sleep. No TV in room. Having to leave. breakfast was far less then expected . Toast , muffins , cold cereal , juices , milk , coffee and tea , with no other entrees . Bed and Breakfast usually means a full breakfast is provided , not a cold continental affair .
