  This is the ideal hotel for those wishing to visit the Berkeley University campus. It has a significant historical background related to the University. In many ways it is therefore rather a specialist hotel with a particular clientele. We enjoyed our stay there very much.   Our son got married this week-end and my husband checked days before the event - Hotel Shattuck was sold out. Living only forty minutes away . . . we had not reserved a room. Went online morning of the wedding and we were in luck. Best decision! The whole wedding party was at the Hotel and we had fun taking a part in much of - Wonderful place to stay, close to Berkeley shopping and campus. Excellent food and atmosphere, very helpful staff. It is always the little things that make such a big difference. For example, the bread with dinner was still warm from the oven, wonderful crisp crust and chewy interior.

  As a local who just wanted to take a staycation, loved having a balcony, but wished the front desk had informed me I had no water view. I would have upgraded had I been informed.
