  Because the "Alex" is the only Hotel that I have stayed in in Odessa I do not consider myself an expert. But having stayed in many hotels around the world I will say this rate highly. The friendly service with a good level of English spoken was foremost. My room was a pleasure and the location very quiet yet convenient.   Location is convenient. Close to the city beach - 5 min walk, 10 min by car to the city center. We stayed in the standard double with basic facilities. Generally all was OK.   The staff in the hotel were very welcoming and helpful. The facilities within the hotel were 1st class. The pool area was lovely and spacious. I used the gym which was well equipped.   The hotel was very clean and the courtyard was beautiful. The restaurant associated with the hotel offered a great breakfast. Lunch and dinner menus were extremely good as was the beer and staff.
