Situated in the Conwy Valley, on the edge of Snowdonia, this 16th century country inn presents itself as the ideal base from which to explore all that North Wales has to offer.

Providing a refreshed, traditional atmosphere, the Tal-y-Cafn offers wonderfully relaxing surroundings, with open log fires and original oak beams. Completing the facilities are a cosy snug, bar and restaurant, as well as a children's play area and a lovely garden, which contains plenty of seating for the summer.

A cooked or continental breakfast is available every day, ensuring a good start the day before exploring the area. Just 5-minutes from the A55 Expressway, within easy reach of the hotel are areas of superb natural beauty, Holyhead Port, Chester, Wrexham and Manchester.

Very, very nice and kind staff, brilliant atmosphere in the hotel - just charming. Great place for exploring North Wales, definitely I’ll go there again in the summer. And meals.... mhhhhhh... Really nice surprise. + The Family that runs hotel is really hospitable + The small one bedroom is really really small, but it has its charm in it. + Location is good to travel around the North Wales + English Breakfast was probably the best that I have had so far in a hotel (freshly prepared with good ingredients).

Food & Drink

The food features fresh, regional produce creatively used in a modern British style. For functions, weddings and conferences there is a choice of menu (as a guideline only). The kitchen is also able to cater for individual requirements.

Across the inner lobby is a dining area of smaller proportions with individual, larger dining tables more suited to parties or families with younger children.

The bar offers a comprehensive, impressive range of house wines. It offers a choice for all palates at a reasonable price and, for the more discerning palate, a full wine list is available. There is always a minimum of 2 real ales at any time.

The bar operates normal licensing hours but additional hours can be arranged for private events and residents.

Children are made very welcome in the pub/restaurants. Colouring and games are available, as well as a large play area outside.

Awarded 3-stars by Visit Wales, the hotel is continuously being upgraded and the proprietors, Richard and Anna, offer personal attention and quality service.

Special celebrations, private dinners or larger parties can be catered for in the newly refurbished Tal-y-Faen function room.

Just off the inner lobby is the snug. Designed for comfort, for a relaxed drink in mind, it features soft leather-look chocolate sofas and coffee tables moulded into the intriguing shaped room. The warm cream and terracotta walls are adorned with impressive ‘still-life’ historical nude paintings.

Nearby attractions include:

Bodnant Garden (2 km / 1.3 miles) - the upper part of this renowned garden consists of the Terrace Gardens as well as informal lawns shaded by trees. The lower portion is formed by the River Hiraethlyn valley, a tributary of the Conwy, that contains a wild garden.

Conwy Castle (10.5 km / 6.5 miles) - ominously positioned atop the Conwy Estuary, this 13th century castle remains one of the most outstanding achievements of medieval military architecture.

Travelling information

By Car:
- Take the A55.
- Exit the A55 North Wales expressway at junction 19.
- Continue onto the A470, signed for Betws-y-Coed.
- Go through Glan Conwy and continue for a further 4 miles until you reach Tal-y-Cafn.
- The hotel is located on the right.

Parking:
Free parking is available in an on-site car park.

By Train:
Tal-y-Cafn has its own railway station, located across on the opposite side of the hotel's car park. Connections for the Conwy Valley Line can be boarded at Llandudno Junction.
