  friendly and efficient, pleasant stay - although the hotel is a big old place the rooms were extremely clean the beds very comfortable, we didnt get a chance to eat breakfast as we awere leaving on the 6.15 ferry but was offered continental breakfast instead. excellent value for money and I wouldnt hesitate to stay there again

  This guest house should have a 5 star rating instead of the 4 it has. Absolutely beautiful from the car park to reception to the gorgeous bedroom(14) and the breakfast area. All spotless and a credit to the owners. We arrived early but, unlike other places we have stayed, it was not a problem the owner showed us to our room on the top floor which ... vad folk säger » was immaculate and huge with the most glorious views of oban bay and beyond. The bed was one of the best ever slept in, the en suite had everything ne - If you want to Relax, laugh & smile ... made to feel welcome from the word go, have a lovely room then This is the hotel for you. Iona is a real character who we found helpful and very witty :-) She has a wonderful team of staff who are very attentive and made our stay memorable. The hotel is a pleasant walk into town it took us a leisurely 10 mins which was handy for the Ferry Terminal. My daughter and her friend stayed in a Twin room (b) which was located on the side of the hotel. It was

  Very comfortable nicely furnished family suite with great beds. Suited our family of 4 with kids 6 & 8 as we had own sitting room space in evening. Suite has amazing views of the sea/port, and located away from noise of main town, but only a short walk along the promenade to get to shops, port for ferries and seafood restaurants. Would stay here agai - Stellar, friendly, helpful hosts (thanks Mark & Jan!), fab room with stain glass window and breath-taking view of the sea and promenade, Mark's Scottish Breakfast utterly delicious, lovely attention to detail including snifter of sherry, great location next door to beautiful ruin (Dunollie Castle) we will come back. Chief highlight of our three week Scottish tour was Oban in general and the Barriemore in particular.

  Fiona was so so kind and helpful--we were a bit late checking in because we missed a train, and she responded immediately to my email and was very understanding! The guest house was comfortable, clean, and conveniently located up Jacob's Ladder. We had a great time in Oban and in Tobermory and would definitely recommend. It goes without saying ... vad folk säger » that an en suite room would be preferred, but the shared toilet was fine. We didn't run into any problems! - Fiona made us feel very welcome right from the start. Room was lovely,very comfortable ,even had chocolates on the bed! Great value for money and Fiona was so informative about Oban and surrounding areas.Good fish restaurant ee-usk, it's a must. Would definately visit Fiona again if we go to Scotland.Lovely town with disitillery, really enjoyed this. So glad we stayed at Invercloy :) x thanks Fiona x

  The Old Manse is a delightful place to stay. The owners are great hosts and they have an attention to detail. Upon arrival they helped us with our bags and offered us a cold beer. The decor in the room we stayed in was superb and we had a great nights sleep. Must be superb on a good day! May come back one day since our main objective was to see Staffa.which had to be aborted due to the adverse weather on the day of the trip.

  Bedrooms recently refurbished to a great standard, especially loved the light up mirror :) The breakfast was fantastic just what you need after a great night out in Oban. The hotel is very central for everything in Oban from the great chippie to the even greater bars. Would recommend if you are staying in Oban for an event in the Gathering Halls... vad folk säger » as you are only a stone throw away. Dont forget to nip in to the Tartan Tavern facing the Hotel entrance. This Hotel proves you should never judge - We went to the Rowantree for our 3rd anniversary for an overnight stay away. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The food in the steakhouse (onsite) was delicious! I highly recommend the fillet steak, cooked to perfection and super tasty! They are also bike friendly, with a safe car park located at the back of the hotel (so off from the main street). It is also ideally located for walking round Oban, less than 5mins to the bay. Altogether we had a lovely time away!

  My wife and I stayed at Ayres Guest House for one night as part of a tour of the west of Scotland. We were met by the owner who was very courteous and should us to our room which was on the first floor and faced the bay, the views were beautiful. The room itself was well appointed and all the usual facilities were available. The en suit was a litt... vad folk säger » le on the small side but served very well (maybe I’m just too big). The breakfast was ample and a good selection of continental and traditional cooked - Excellent location with great sea views from the front of the building . Nearest pub is next door & also very convenient for the town, trains & ferry's. The room was fairly small but clean and cosy and the beds were very comfortable. Staff were friendly & helpful. Will recommend and if ever I'm back in Oban would happily stay here again.
