The Bull And Swan - Bilder

Breakfast was very good with a wide selection and great service. We spent two nights - one on arrival in the UK and one the night before we left after touring for three weeks. This was one of the best beds we slept in - our first room the bed was a proper queens size and very comfortable, the second was a double but still a great sleep. We really appreciated the wee bottle of vodka in our room after a rather harried drive up from Heathrow. On our last night we ate in the dining room as the pub. alla recensioner »
The Bull & Swan is an atmospheric historical inn with stone walls and huge fireplaces. It is perfectly located for visiting Burghley House and exploring the pretty town of Stamford. The staff were very welcoming and friendly, and made us feel immediately relaxed and at home. Our room was stylishly decorated and spotlessly clean, with a large comfortable bed and lovely walk-in shower. Breakfast was ample, with plenty of choice of cold and hot goodies. Will definitely return.
I can't praise this hotel highly enough. It's always a risk booking online but when we were shown to our room we couldn't believe how large and well appointed it was, easily worth every penny.
The staff were brilliant and I only wish we had eaten there as the breakfast was very good too. (Instead we had a poor Italian in town)
Highly recommended.
Don't change a thing!! Have stayed in a variety of 'luxury' hotels/inns - all very nice but somewhat soul-less, the Bull & Swan has a unique character and we loved the quirkyness of the rooms - artisan teas/coffe, flavoured vodka & buiscuits were a nice touch-all the staff were friendly without being intrusive-PERFECT!!!!.
The breakfast was well cooked and filling. Ingredients seemed fresh. The bedroom and bathroom were lovely, especially at half price. The bed was huge and extremely comfortable. The atmosphere in the bar was good and the staff were welcoming and attentive.
The room was charming, well designed and with every facility. The bed
was superbly comfortable and spacious. The staff were all friendly and
helpful and the breakfast choices varied and generous. The pub rooms
were really cosy with open fires.
We were going to book a much more expensive hotel quite close by. So
glad we didn't as this hotel was excellent and such good value for
money. The staff could not have been more pleasant. We would definitely
stay there again.
Stamford itself, the pubs location, the welcome we had, the room was superb, staff were great, room environment was nice and quiet at night, lovely hospitality tray in the room, breakfast was wonderful, bar food was good.
It was located in the centre of Stamford. We were upgraded to a larger room (thanks James) and all rooms were of 5 star quality. The staff were all friendly and welcoming. I would always stay here if in the area.
Great breakfasts, friendly staff, nice rooms. We were in room 7 which directly above pub and a bit noisy until pub shut but that didnt bother us at all. Good on site parking. Overall very happy.
Décor in room was unusual but quirky- a mix of old colonial and modern
(blinds). Bed linen good quality and bed very comfortable.. Choice of
snacks was excellent and local. Meals were excellent.
We stayed in the Lion room which was lovely with a very comfy bed. Our breakfast was gorgeous and the staff could not of been more helpful. We will definitely be staying/dining there again.
From the moment we arrived, to the moment we left, the staff could not have made us feel more welcome. The hotel is charming, and is very close to the centre of the lovely town of Stamford.
Great room, very comfortable bed right in the heart of the town.
The only thing better than the food - unpretentious, but extremely well cooked - was the friendliness of the staff.
The room was very spacious and the hotel very quaint. It was close to Burleigh House, the purpose of our visit to Stamford. It was full of character and the food was excellent.
The room was beautiful - especially the bathroom. Very comfortable bed. Facilities were excellent. Free vodka on arrival! Complimentary water etc. Everything was perfect.
Absolutely perfect service from the staff. The breakfast was second to
none, fresh ingredients wonderfully presented. Tasteful decor
throughout. Clean with no expense spared.
very nicely appointed rooms. I had a luxury room which was really huge. I loved the roll top bath, the little freebie items and toiletries. The breakfast was truly excellent.
Wonderful room, decorated in interesting and individual way. Large and spacious and historic. Up to date and spacious bathroom with terrific shower and full bath.
Lots of character, the styling of the hotel was quirky but contempory. It had a very laid back friendly feel and I will return if I can get a good price again.
The whole feel of the place, bar area very welcoming & the room was comfortable with a super sized bed! An excellent breakfast & friendly staff.
The room, the bed, the roll top bath, the shower, the complimentary products, the cost, the service, the comfort, the breakfast and the free parking.
Great service from the staff, very helpful and friendly. Good breakfast/ evening meal. Characterful old building, restaurant the old Bedlam Club.
This must be one the best hotels we have stayed in excellent in all ways. We had the Lion room which was lovely. I real must for anyone to stay.
Friendly, nice quirky pub/hotel
Nice atmosphere, good value for money food.

Lovely freshly cooked breakfast with plenty of choise. Good customer service and friendly staff.
Comfortable atmosphere in the bar.
Location near centre of Stamford, friendly staff, good food, clean room of a decent size, parking, and relaxed atmosphere.
The bathroom was fantastic and lots of hot water. The bed was extremely comfortable. The egg royale breakfast was lovely.
The staff were very friendly, helpful and knowledgable. Nothing was too much trouble. Food excellent and good price.
The room was the best £90 I have ever spent in a hotel. Tasteful,
individually designed, spacious, characterful.
Absolutely loved the old charm of the building. The bedroom was delightful and Stamford is a lovely place.
Excellent service, good food and stylish comfortable room. A chance to
stay somewhere I'd happily recommend.
Friendly atmosphere, beautiful and large room, level of luxury, value for money. Would love to stay again.
Enjoyed our stay, friendly staff, lovely fresh cooked breakfast,
Rooms clean and full of character.
Friendly pub with rooms above dining room. Nice and quiet, despite being on Stamford's main street.
Very friendly and welcoming staff. Beautiful room (ram) great location for bars and restaurants.
Heating in room round the clock even in May (very cold day). Very good hospitality tray.
Bathroom excellent. Bed comfortable. Large room (deluxe double). Food good. Service good.
Old world charm, good service and very pleasant pub atmosphere. Good quality food.
Large & confortable bed.
Friendly staff.
Very good choice of breakfast foods.
Location of Bull and Swan. Had a room upgrade and room was very nice indeed.
Characterful & relaxed atmosphere, on site parking and great staff.
Very helpful staff, lovely rooms, great menu, super location.
The location and the overall experience was very good.
lovely location, food was excellent, pleasant staff.
Helpful staff. Good location. We enjoyed our stay.
Lovely rooms
Excellent staff
Great food
Good Wines.
Excellent staff
Nice breakfast
Large spacious room.
We were only staying for one night!!.
The evening meal was a bit ordinary and my dish of chicken and bacon salad was a bit disappointing. They had run out of the fish and chips I had been looking forward to. The waitress was lovely but seemed a bit overwhelmed. We were in the restaurant as the bar was full and it was a little cold.
Evening dining could have been a bit more special. The waitresses could
not be faulted and service was good but the decor was a bit drab and the
room draughty. Food was good but still a bit 'pub food'. A pity
the dining rooms were not as cosy and welcoming as the bar.
Having to leave!.
The entrance to the car park was narrow and off the high street but would not put me off returning to this gem of a hotel.
Room smelt very smoky (presumably from the bar fire below) so we had to
sleep with the window open which mean that the traffic noise was very
loud through the night so we were awake a lot.
The only problem : our stay wasn't long enough.
Nothing. Will definitely come back.
Nothing.
Going home. :).
Our room was very small and as we had the air conditioning unit on the
roof directly in front of us, the description of a 'scenic view of
the courtyard' was certainly not possible.
In room 6, which was £160, there was an interconnecting door. I came back late, put on my radio and some lunatic banged on the door! Next time I would definitely want a room with such an interconnecting door. In addition the checkin was rather strange. I was initially asked to sign for £70 for the room; then it was realised that my room was actually £160. But I'm fairly sure that £70 was the rate which the previous occupier paid, meaning that there are some astounding discounts/markups.
Downstairs was a little pubby in atmosphere.
Staff so busy that a couple of requests weren't followed up. However when asking for a reduction due to having to miss breakfast I think this was acknowledged. The Shower in room one is scalding and I burnt my hand. I did inform staff that if I had stepped in shower after putting the temperature gauge to the coldest setting I could have seriously hurt myself - please fix this.
Bathroom floor had been cleaned but was sticky to the touch & heated towel rail would not switch off!! Evening menu limited & expensive.
I wasn't there longer!!!.
Superior double at front of hotel, tasteful room, but traffic noise from early morning. Windows are double glazed but noise v. Ventilation problem.
All excellent.
Lack of shelving in bathroom to put you essentials. Only one comfy chair in room which had plenty of space for a second. No air con or fan especially in recent hot weather.
Some traffic noise as room at front, preventing having window open.
Traffic noise.
Small niggles such as remote batteries running out, no newspaper when requested, no alarm call when requested, but nothing major.
It would have been nice to have a bath robe provided as we had to leave our room to go to the bathroom( although there was a curtain).
Just the traffic noise in the morning. NOthing the pub could do about
that though I'm afraid!.
Not a thing!.
On the night dining room was available but cold. Then considering we
were staying guests the only tables left in the bar were too near to the
draughty door and busy bar.
Lack of parking, lack of information on arrival.
Room a little small although okay for one night.
They forgot my wake up call, but I was awake anyway.
No soap in bathroom - some of us do not like gel particularly when there is no bath.
We were kindly given an upgrade. However this moved us from a quiet room at the back to a noisy room at the front - even with secondary glazing traffic noise is a problem.
Wouldn't call it deluxe. Room a bit tired with grim netting and curtains not properly secured to rail. Had to stand on spare bed to close.
Lion carving on headbord. Kept hitting our heads!.
Due to my disability it was a little too far for me to walk into the town.
Nothing.
The price of the deserts in the restaurant . They were all priced at £7
, far too much, hence we didn't have one after our meal.
Too many stairs! With a new hip recently , I might have been glad of a warning before booking. Room 7 a bit noisy until the bar closed.
Nothing.
