The hotel is superbly managed, and all the staff are excellently trained. This was my second stay here, and once again I greatly enjoyed my visit. The house-keeping is of a very high standard, and I found nothing out of place in my room. The sound-proofing is the best I have encountered at any hotel, both from the external as well as the internal (other guests). I ate Dinner in the 1935 Rooftop Restaurant on both evenings of my stay; the first evening with guests, The food is of a high standar.
alla recensioner » We stayed at holiday inn in southend since our flight to Amsterdam was taking off from southend airport. So we ended up staying there for two nights. It was absolutely the right decision. The hotel itself was spotless. It was really clean and well maintained. Best hotel for the price. southend is a nice town for nightlife and clubs. Not so much during the days. Hotel is right next to the airport and the train station that takes u to and back from London. No cabs needed. Has a nice restaurant a. The hotel is clean and efficient in design with a great view of the airport. Our room was very clean, thoughtfully planned, comfortable and very quiet. No matter where your rooms face, the hotel has been built soundproof! The lounge/ restaurant overlooking the airport was terrific, offering excellent fare, and great views, and a friendly atmosphere. Every staff member was genuinely obliging and very helpful no matter their duties. The location, next to the airport and the new train stop, an. Customer service at this hotel was absolutely amazing. Young man by the bane if Dan served myself and my boyfriend at reception and he was very polite and welcoming. He answered all of our question and have us information for things we didn't know. The room was an executive room and was absolutely amazing and comfortable. We stayed in a room that have us an excellent view of south end airportbbutnthe best thing was, there was no noise from plans etc. The bed was very comfortable and the room la. Very professionaly-run hotel; excellent staff, friendly, but courteous at all times. I particularly welcomed the effective sound-proofing of the room; this is a rare in hotels where one is aware of guests coming and going, and closing of doors. Being a new hotel, it is spotless; I just hope that this is maintained with heavy use. Greatly enjoyed the Rooftop restaurant; I had dinner two nights running, and found the quality and presentation excellent; good value as well. The hotel has not actually got a coastal aspect,but this excellent establisment quickly makes up for that with its location at Southend International Airport.Spotless luxurious bedrooms,plenty of relaxing areas and the stunning 1935 Rooftop Restaurant and Bar is like been in a large airport control tower as there is a spectacular uninterrupted view of all the runways (plane spotters take note) in addition to the Rooftop Terrace with views that go on for miles. Very convenient location 5 minute walk from terminal and small airport so very quick to get through; would stay again primarily to avoid long ques checking in as Garwick was a nightmare! lovely hotel, very professional and friendly service while checking in- may be eat Mac Donald's though not the restaurant food- pricey and not great. Brand new hotel in immaculate condition; friendly and professional staff; food in restaurant overlooking airport hugely exceeded our expectations; head waiter promptly rectified mistakes and reduced our bill; smart and fashionably furnished rooms, bathroom especially good; convenient location. It is very close to the airport . So I didn't have to take a bus or a taxi in the evening. And the staffs were kind to me. I can't speak English .But when I spoke it very slowly, they listened to me carefully. Also they spoke slowly to make me understand what they spoke. If we were to travel to Southend on Sea again we would stay at Holiday Inn. I was impressed by how little noise there was being right beside the airport. 3 planes took off and I could not hear a thing. The freak weather on the Saturday afternoon, as I entered Essex from the Dartford Tunnel! There was torrential rain which flooded the roads all the way to the Hotel; however, that was not its fault!!! (I had a nice greeting and welcome from the Reception staff and the Duty Manager, as I walked in). The fact that wifi is not included and had to be purchased for 5pounds per user per device per day. Breakfast not included. But price buffered the lack of these two things. I was not used to the softer (than I am accustomed to mattresses) and thought perhaps in a twin room that one mattress could be a little firmer than the other to suite everyone. To be fair I do have a back problem so this is a very minor quibble but knowing other couples the suggestion is reasonable. There was nothing I didn't like. All services and standards of hotel, staff and room was great. There was absolutely nothing; a most enjoyable experience. nothing. Breakfast not included in price making it somewhat expensive; one member restaurant bar staff clearly in need of more training; double bed curiously small with over-soft, roll-together mattress. As a diabetic no provision of fridge to store my insulin, a fridge was offered at extra cost of 25 pounds per day, which was not acceptable, but staff kindly placed insulin in office fridge. No clock radio or other amenities usually available in good hotels. We found the bed on the small side and the mattress was on the soft side also my pillows were quite uncomfortable. Scrambled eggs at breakfast not good. Lumps with grey insides. 90% of windows in the room are frosted glass and cannot see out-. The bed! Poor quality mattress meant my husband and I rolled into the middle all the time. Small double as well. Apparantly we are not the first to comment! If it wasn't for this it would get 10/10. Not being able to open a window for fresh air. Very dusty on the desk Steak not cooked properly & told it was down to the cut of the steak. Did get a free desert though but would have been happier with a refund on the steak that was overcooked. Tiny point - we arrived from London by train and do not know the area at all. It was late and foggy and we could not see the hotel from station. A signpost or poster with directions would have been useful. Price of drinks in ba is a rip-off! Double bed in room was very soft - a bit like being on a water bed. Nothing bad to report. The reception staff let the hotel down. Dirty tables in bar/restaurant. Could be better lighting in the room. Found myself guessing which lights were for what.. Nothing!. Car parking payment should be inclusive. The restaurant was closed at 9:30 when I arrived in the hotel so I was advised by reception to use room service. I attempted to do so but room service did not respond to my call (not to a further call from reception). It was only after the intervention of the very helpful girl in the bar that I was able to arrange some food. The shower gel/shampoo dispenser in the bathroom was empty. Not a major issue but everybody we spoke to did say the same thing, Rooms were clean,comfortable and in excellent condition. ( but this is a new Hotel, so it should be ). The pillows on the beds are like concrete, they feel soft at the touch but they are extremly uncomfortable, such a shame, as we had 3 rooms and 6 adults and 2 children, all had the same problem. Easy problem to resolve. having to pay extra for breakfast, when you express chain include that in their price. The double bed is just standard size, could be a bit bigger. On check in the very enthusiastic member of staff rattled off so much information during check in.It was very distracting and too much. Would have liked a wider selection of draught products on the bar. Room lighting very dim. Was cold and the heating was not working good. Only one bath towel but sure that was simple oversight. Restaurant food needed a Lille more flavour and less oil. The bed! It was a double bed and VERY uncomfortable. When one of us moved, the other rocked about. How on earth did you choose this kind of mattress?. Nothing love everythimg. Cooked breakfast VERY disappointing! All cold not helped by cold plates. Not worth the £10 each cost. Would breakfast elsewhere nearby should we stay again. Cost of carpark £15 for one night. Bathroom door not clean appeared to have blood streaks that we had to wipe off. These were small but disconcerting. Nothing. Noisey accom/heating machine all night. Cleaners walking in at 8.50am to do room - was in state of undress and checkout is 11.00 am! Inconclusive discussion re issues and refund! Not impressed with staff.
