Good location, friendly staff and pleasant room.convient location to the m6. Position of Hotel with regard to the M6. The location was important to me as I needed to be in Penrith for 0900hrs. Easy going staff, friendly locals. Staff were very friendly. Unhappy paying £90 for one night B and B when found out another couple had paid £65.00 for 2 nights (Bed only). Nothing. leaving. Leaving in the morning. would of been nice to have a double bed and a shower instead of a bath apart from that it was ok. I never like queueing for breakfast like Oliver Twist with his empty plate . Table service is always preferable but as there were two coach loads of people to serve I can understand the need.Very uncomfortable bed! Mattress had springs which were very obvious. Rooms very poor condition - need updating. There was an issue with the fire escapes, the room I was in was escapable as long as the fire was approaching in a particular direction, fire instructions are to contact reception but there are no internal phones. Breakfast was served at 0830 which is too late if you need to be where you are going for typically 0900 hrs. Very condersending staff attitude kept enfercising I was in an ecconamy room. It was obvios this hotel caters for large coach parties and holiday lets.As an induvidual I was made to feel an inconvenionce. The noise from a private party which went on until 6.00am. Our room entered by a drunken individual at 6.15 am. The basic room is very small - My wife refused to stay in it. Main Line Rail line 50 meters away at the back. No double glazing. Decor old and tired. Bed uncomfortable, I need to visit the osteopath.Advertised as a 3 star, I would suggest it was a 1 star.
