In the Lake District National Park, Queens Hotel has a central location by Keswick’s market square. The hotel offers good food, traditional rooms and free Wi-Fi. On the edge of Derwent Water, the Queens is just a short walk from the shops, pubs and restaurants of Keswick town centre. A full Cumbrian breakfast is served each morning. The Queens Head bar has a plasma-screen TV, and serves bar meals and real ales. The public bar overlooks the marketplace, and features a real log fire. Some of the bedrooms at the family-run Queens Hotel have views of the Lakeland Fells, Skiddaw and Borrowdale. Each en suite room has a TV and tea/coffee facilities.

Comfort, cleanliness and spaciousness of superior room at minimal extra cost, convenience for centre of town, airy and nicely furnished lounge area, very helpful staff, excellent breakfast, unlimited on-site parking for the day following our one night stay. The rooms were clean and had everything a person could possibly need. The meals were absolutely gorgeous, we have already booked again to stay in May.

Otherwise, no criticism whatsoever!. window rattled due to wind. We were going to dine there but they had ran out of Steak and Lamb on the Saturday night. the parking situation as in there was'nt any so we had to park in a long stay car park which cost an additional £25 +. did not serve irish coffe at the bar. there was a cigerete on the carpet under the raidiator it was a none smoking hotel wich i asumed ment the floor wasnt cleaned properly its probably still there. the old beds. refurb required but for the price what can you expect. I was disappointed re the hospitality of the hotel as a whole. The website gives the impression that it is a very homely and friendly place but although the staff were courteous I would not say that the atmosphere was friendly. Also the corridors were very dark in the evening which caused difficulties for my elderly parents who accompanied us. I also think that the bedrooms needed refurbishment. Room, whilst comfortable did need a bit of updating. In particular thefurniture is a bit old fasshioned.The bed was too soft and not very comfortable. carpet in the bathrooms. Lack of parking facilities. No residents bar after closing time.Unfortunately the room had a smell of smoke. The bathroom smelled mouldy and it was damp.Dining staff were pleasant but perhaps not well trained ie did not clear used plates from our table. Cereal and breakfast dishes were not cleared evnen when we were eating our toast. A small point and easily rectified. noisy at night. need to promote their restaurant facility more, perhaps a daily news-sheet with chefs specials in each room ?. Booked a superior king size room only to be told it wasnt available whenwe arrived but was not informed prior to arrival. Alternative roomunbearably warm and horrendous banging coming from pipes in bathroomkept us awake on 2nd nite, complained and reduced our bill. Rooms needed abit of tlc otherwise was ok. Would stay again but would want the kingsize room as originally asked for.Our window was above the next door pub, the noise level was not pleasant but it did stop at 1am. The bed was on a slope which made your feet higher than your head! Decor could really do with a brush up. Ptoblems with the heating, sometimes on, sometimes off. When on, it was too hot no control to just turn down. Menu.
