The staff were friendly and helpful. Good beer at a reasonable price. The food is standard pub fare but piping hot and served quickly. Good breakfast. The bedroom was a bit basic but quiet, comfortable and clean. The location is excellent (opposite the station) if you wanted to combine say a visit to Manchester (shopping, concert etc) with walking/sightseeing in the Peaks.
pleasant quiet room at the back with no traffic noise - cosy little room with everything one could need - characterful building - excellent breakfast - spacious bar area for breakfast - no pub smell in the morning - clean - proper big wooden tables - staff helpful - asked for taxi card but taxi ordered for me. Great!. alla recensioner »
Clean room and friendly staff.
Great location in the centre of town. The toown has several places to eat and drink.
Opposite the hotel is the station with frequent trains into the centre of Manchester.
Good bar area. Evening meals very good and at a reasonable price.
Excellent breakfast.
We had room #3, the four-poster, which looked like the best room. Comfortable enough and facilities OK given that it's over a pub. Wifi temperamental. Staff very helpful. Good location for walking in the Dark Peak, while close to Manchester for shopping.
Good basic accommodation at a sensible price - ideal for a short stay in the Peak District. Great breakfast. Handy for the railway station. Glossop is an interesting town and not run down like so many small centres these days.Lots of real ale pubs nearby.
I went to Glossop for a single purpose hence my overnight stay. Most of
your questions are irrelevant to my stay. The George was pleasant and I
shall probably use it again when next I visit Glossop. No more to say.
Pleasant staff and a good, economical room with an en suite. Bed was
comfortable and room had all requirements; tv, tea/coffee and
free wifi.
Location excellent if staying Glossop.
The staff were very helpful, and frequently checked whether everything was ok.
Bar/restaurant area was clean and relaxing. The food was well-cooked and good value.
Single room basic but spotless, bed very comfortable. Friendly and efficient staff. Fine breakfast with eggs cooked to order, and good coffee - always a test!.
Great central location, extensive bar, excellent bar meals and freshly cooked breakfast. Will definitely stay again when in the area.
Good service. Pleasant, helpful staff. Excellent breakfast. Room comfortable. Food and excellent ale at very reasonable prices.
staff were very friendly, and couldn't do enough for us. breakfast was included in price, it was brilliant.
The room was great - good to have heaters that we could turn on/off. The food was good.
Nice hotel, friendly staff, superb breakfast, excellent value.
the staff were extremely friendly and the food was excellent.
The location, directly opposite the train station.
4-poster bed and seating area.
every thing clean friendly.
very friendly staff.
basic and a bit tired totally redeemed by the outstanding breakfast.
Good no nonsense friendly accommodation with hearty breakfast.
Breakfast/barmaid.
friendly staff.
Friendly staff Bed was comfortable.
nothing.
No towel rails in the bedroom. The lack of onsite car parking is not ideal but there is nothing the hotel can do about that.
can't think of anything!.
Difficult to find anything not to like.
If I ever return to this area, I would stay in this hotel again.
No onsite parking but plenty of facilities nearby.
If I'm being picky, shower wasnt very powerful at all but
wouldn't hold this against the place.
No towel rail in bathroom - not vital but would make things a little easier!.
The shower needed attention. I reported it, and was told a plumber was coming to deal with something else and would look at it. The landlady said that if people don't report faults, they don't know. Quick regular checks would help with that.
I had to get out of my nice cosy bed to turn the light off. A bedside lamp would be good!
I would stay again.
Electric shower varied from either freezing cold or boiling hot...very difficult to take a shower in those conditions. Noisy at night because of an event downstairs...we were thankful we were at the other end of the hotel, but could still hear the noise & other guests from the party below returned to their rooms noisily late into the night.
Nothing specific.
poor car parking facilities.
Single room turned into Double. No room between bed and wall at side and
bottom. No room to put your bags. Broken lights Shaving light did not
work. Dismal room Toilet Fan very noisy in our room and the same next
door Very poor quality room.
everything.
