  Choosing accommodation in a city that you are unfamiliar with is always hard. We chose well as this hotel is brilliantly located in the "old " city right off the Royal Mile. Everything is within walking distance and the rooms are a great size with all amenities. This apartment hotel is reasonably priced and is brilliantly locate - Wow- fantastic hotel. We got it for a really good price through letsbookhotel.com and our stay was perfect. The staff were brilliant and so attentive allowing us to check in early and assigning us to a fab room. The room was spacious bright and colourful with lots of lovely added extras including free movies,mini bar drinks, robes and slippers.   Everything! Absolutely fab, cannot praise this hotel highly enough. Suite was a small appartment, we could happily have moved in. It is located in a nice area (new residential developments, offices) and just across the road is University of Edinburgh. It is 20 minutes away from the main tourist attractions (the Castle, Whiskey Museum, Princess Street). There is a parking near by (literally the building close to the hotel).   This was our first trip to Edinburgh. We were hoping to book a hotel closer to the city centre, but as ours was a last minute booking, we were limited for choice. As it turned out, the Britannia was just perfect for us and we're now very pleased we chose it. The hotel itself is ugly, massive, chain-like, but people are okay, walking distance to town attractive, there is a park and a river road, so, I recommend this place!

Very central location at the 'Lawnmarket' on the 'Royal Mile' in the Old Town, in the shadow of the castle itself - great for sight- seeing most within a very short walking distance and only a short bus ride to others.
