  We very much enjoyed our stay at the Black Swan & found the staff very friendly & helpful, the atmosphere cosy & relaxing & the food to a high standard. The whole hotel was imacculately clean & nicely furnished. The location was in a small, quiet & picturesque village far enough into the countryside to provide good views bu... vad folk säger » t close enough to the main roads to be a good base for travelling into the heart of the Lake District. We would definitely stay there again! - Angie the owner greeted us and was very helpful telling us of walks in the area. Food was excellent and the bar had a lovely friendly atmosphere. The poached eggs for breakfast were superb. A wonderful place to break our journey on the way to Scotland could have done with a longer stay.

  Very friendly owners, they were more than willing to help and were lovely to chat to giving it a lovely personal feel to our stay. The room was very luxurious, the bed especially was amazingly comfy! There were walking route plans provided to help walkers and to give ideas to visitors as to which areas to visit. The owners had great local knowledg... vad folk säger » e which they were more than happy to share so that we had a more enjoyable stay; they told us about the great little local pub which served great even - Everything about the stay was delightful. From arriving with a warm welcome to recommendations for food that evening, Alex and Jeff were very helpful and polite in everything they did. One particular aspect that stands out in the breakfast, a stunning selection of everything you could ever wish for! Home made bread and scones with homemade jam, lovely! The room that me and my girlfriend stayed in was expected of somewhere of this calibre, very clean, very comfortable and a nice place to be. Ale
