Very friendly staff. I got there after midnight, several hours late
because of consecutive public transport problems, and did not have their
number on me to inform them of my late arrival. The staff member on call
let me in, and was very nice and helpful to me. The building is old but
they try to liven it up with bright colours etc, which creates a
cheerful and vibrant atmosphere. My (private) room was cosy, with a
comfortable bed, clean towels and coffee and tea facilities.
Staff was very friendly even though I was ignored for the first couple
of minutes. They were very busy with people having a hangover after a
stag-party the night before. Quite comfortable atmosphere given,
especially in the common-room. Breakfast was ok (toast, jam, hazelnut-
spread, juice, coffee, tea, fruit), beds are quite comfortable for
hostel standard.
For my piticular trip the location was perfect, the reception & communal area including the facilities were very good, very comfortable & a great place to chill out, staff were friendly & efficent with attention to detail, much obliged.
location, building, staff, interior, breakfast included, use of kitchen, wifi, other hostlers
log fire, sunlight pours in ( a big plus for me ) bag storage, quiet during sleeping time.
Location, less than 10 minutes walking for the Bullring.
We paid for two beds in a 6 bedroom dormitory and finally got a 4 bedroom dormitory just for ourselves, pretty generous!!:)).
The room was adequate for our requirements and I was surprised at how clean it was. The shared facilities are very clean. I would definitely stay there again.
I liked the entire service and stay, the staff were helpful friendly and condsiderate.
The accomodation was surprisingly of good quality, adequate.
The atmosphere in the hostel is really unique, friendly and warm. In the evening it's possible to see a film in the main room.
Friendly, homey, budget friendly.friendly common room with a computer and Internet.Friendly staff.Best hostel I have been to.
Location, staff, free breakfast and evening snack, working Wi-Fi, ability to print tickets/boarding passes for free.
My second stay and as good as the first one. +Security +kitchen access
+fruits for breakfast +afternoon snack.
Friendly and helpful staff, friendly atmosphere and provisions (books, games, dvds) were readily available.
need more inprovemen area of facilities, I have understand the price are fordable to any man, well done.
Really close to coach station and city centre. Nice staff and free wifi even in the bedroom.
The host is so nice and the hotel is just like a home that it's very warm living there.
Near Digbeth Coach and New Street Rail stations. Perennial Xmas decorations. Parking.
I liked the easy-going atmosphere, helpfulness and friendliness of the staff.
The hostel was super clean unbelievably good value and a great atmosphere.
it was very clean friendly staff
very close to the center of birmingham.
Great common room and people here are very friendly.
all ok, as usuall, i will be back soon.
The atmosphere and the friendly staff.
Tea/coffee facilities, parking.
The price
Very clean.
Best staff ever!.
Location. Staff very good and sorted my parking.
it was colourful met some nice people there and it was near to the bus station very noisy at night.
The hostel is located near the central station. Enough shower booths. A cozy lounge.
5 mins walk to the shopping centre and 10 mins walk to the railway station...
Nice reception, cool lockers in the reception & kind staff...
It's in a good, central location. Sociable common room. Very helpful staff.
It was just fine!.
It's central location.
the movie
the staff.
Nothing.sam was nice.
the owner was acctually very nice and helpfull and everybody was acting very respectfull.
Didn't get the chance to enter the hostel...
staff ok . one guy on the desk.
Absolutely nothing.
I arrived after midnight and left at 11:00 am, so I can't
really comment on this. During my short stay, there was nothing
obviously wrong.
I had to sleep in the house next door and walk there all by myself at
night after hanging out in the common room. Staff is maybe a bit too
chilled to organize everything properly. Maybe they should not welcome
hen or stag nights anymore, it's not really funny for all the other
travellers.
nothing.
The shower wasn't working there was only cold water.
Nothing!.
1 GBP surcharge for credit card surcharge not indicated at the time of booking. Cleanliness of showers questionable, they smelled badly and the floor was always wet.
I did not like staff leaving all rooms wide open (two floors) for the
cleaning which starts at 11.00 and finishes at 14.00.
Need to be cleaned for regularly - maybe once per hour for bathrooms and toilets.
The heater in the room is not working properly, and consider the toilet ad bathroom no heater to heat it warm.
The curtain windows are too short cover the windows properly.
The room center table is not big enough.
If this can be sort out it will more better and comfort to every customers compared with the price.
Thank you for the privillage.
Located in a (kind of) deserted area.
Not in the nicest area of birmingham but that's hardly their fault. Didn't detract from my experience of the hostel itself.
The run-down streets round about.
For the price, everything was fair.
the noise at night and the guy on reception was very miserable.the tv didnt work and curtains didnt close but overall was ok as a stop over prob wouldnt stay there again.
breakfast is too simple...the hostel located in a fewer-people zone...road is rough for hardcases.
Reception was closed from 24:00 to 8:00 but not was wrote in the Booking page, I had to think how organize myself when I arrived there (after a big delay of my flight, and luckily I arrived before 24:00), wi-fi didn't worked in my room and mattress was amazingly thin...
On the first night I was in a mixed room however it was me, a 20 year old female, with 3 much older men. I would have preferred to have had at least one other female with me.No kettle and microwave not working in the kitchen of the adiacent building.
It was very rough, I suppose I should have expected it. didn't like lack of private facilities.
the bed is very terrible
the system is not efficient
We booked two beds before we went, but we were told we did not make a reservation!.
Overpriced. Tv was broken. Room and bathrooms were dirty. Something else?.
Our room was absolutely freezing (and dump), the radiator didn't
work, nor did the general heating at night (as it was promised). Shower
was a bit difficult to work out, so I had to take a rather cold one. not nice area although close to bus station
wifi room closed from midnight to eight, nowhere to go
hgih number of beds at ny floor but only one bathroom and two toilets
breakfast almost non existent.
OK, it is really cheap so one should not expect the Ritz, but this place is really a bit strange. The area around the hostle is not a place where anybody else lives. but it is close to the station and the centre.
The hostle is not really clean and the beds quite poor.......but if you don't mind!.
I arrived very late and found the door closed. It is unacceptable that
the staff did not try to contact me before to give the door code or to
make arrangements as I was literally left on the pavement. Hence the
very poor rating.
Do not stop here. Its more a drop out centre than anything else. The beds were alive, as were the bedding. It is not a backpackers hostel. It's a terrible experience.
Staff were rude
Rooms filthy
Beds were possibly not changed between customers as there was a stale stench in rooms.
Poor breakfast ie no cereal
Common area resembles a flashback to the hippy era.
Was working night shift and cleaners noisy when they insisted in hoovering the small square metre of area free on the floor.
Place would be more suitable for a homeless place.
The approach to, and the location of this facility, should be warning enough. Completely lost in the 1960s. Avoid if at all possible.
it's totally different with the descriptions online... I am quite disappointed... :(.
