  We liked the friendliness of the staff. We stayed the first two days and the last two days of our trip to South Africa and we were upgraded to a suite which was very much appreciated...we had stayed in the hotel five years ago and it was exactly as I remembered it and we will definitely be staying there on our return visit////breakfasts were also ... vad folk säger » super...it should be noted that we travelled with another couple ...mc gettigans...and this review is for all of us - The staff were friendly, polite and very helpful, always smiling, and solicitous without being in your face. Breakfast was plentiful, lots of choices and value for money; use of the business centre at no extra cost was a godsend - see wi-fi The entrance/lobby very spacious and felt homely. I would definitely stay at the Portswood again

  the restaurant was fantastic and the rooms/grounds of the hotel were gorgeous. We were a little worried because we were in the smallest room in the place but it was a lovely room, so no complaints there - The quality of service and efficiency of all teh saftt, very impressive indeed !!!!

  This was an excellent hotel. It was situated just outside the Waterfront and although you could walk there, they had a courtesy bus that ran every half hour. It was also situated near to the cental area. We arrived early and they looked after our luggage until the room was ready. The room was clean and had all the facilities you would expect. The rooms and service is very good. The location of the hotel is good and the use of the free shuttle to the Vand A water front is very useful. If you get a good rate this is the hotel to stay in.

  We stayed for 6 nights in 'deluxe one-bedroom suite with living area'. The hotel location is at the centre of the city, European design hotel and very comfortable and clean. We had a spacious one bedroom with dining-living room area and kitchen facilities (microwave,oven, washer-dryer); and very nice two-sides view. The free internet access (1024 MB) given to us was enough for the whole stay since w - First class luxury at a reasonable price. All four of us agreed this was the best hotel we ever stayed at. Our two-bedroom suite with living area was more spacious than we needed but we loved the separate bedrooms and large kitchen. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful from the doormen to the concierge to the drivers. The 1800 restaurant had delicious food for dinner.
