We only had the opportunity to stay one night. Had we known what a lovely place it was, with such a fabulous location/views we would have altered our holiday to stay a little longer. The hotel is currently adding more accommodation upstairs and will be wonderful when complete. The restaurant Maxtons attached to the hotel is very good as well. Beautiful, clean and very homely feeling. Staff were so friendly and nothing was too much trouble, even offered to extend our checkout without our asking due to boat trip not finishing till after scheduled checkout time. Food in restaurant was amazing and reasonably priced. Will def recommend to anyone visiting Kiakoura.

The rooms are a bit small but beautiful, very comfortable beds, friendly staff, across from the beach with excellent views from the lobby- where we spent time because it was too windy to stay outside. Would definitely stay again!. Extremely quiet location, tasteful mod decor, super comfy bed with lovely linen, mod ensuite bathroom. Has good restaurant on sight, so meals can be booked separately or good variety of vibey pubs and restaurants within walking distance. Charming host, beautifully restored restaurant that regrettably we didn't get to try... Small room, with very comfortable bed. A pity we didn't get to enjoy the courtyard as it was raining... The owners have wisely rented out the in house restaurant which is very good. Room was quite small which was ok but only thing could say was no wardrobe to hang clothes. Although on beach front, rooms have no sea view as yet, this is being addressed, so check before booking if this is important. The shower was not good. The Triton mixer went from scorching hot to cold! I didn't enjoy my shower at all! There could have been a wider shelf to put our toilet bags etc.Nice decor, but not so practical... No wardrobe in the room.....bit small. Upgraded to a Superior room but wasn't any bigger than standard room. Only a single chair to sit on. Down duvet on bed was too hot. No lighter blanket in room. Large bathroom lacked heating, might be cold in winter. No sea- view from rooms only to courtyard which could do with a upgrade to match the rooms. Still under renovation. So, the hotel isn't quite there yet, but we can tell it's going to be great when the place is done. However, we wish the price was lower since you feel like you're paying for something you're not quite getting yet. We were disappointed to find the hotel under renovation and that we would not be staying in the main house. The photograph had attracted us to the property and it was unfortunate for us to be roomed in a chalet style facility at the rear of the property. No sea view as described in the website and no discount on the bill . small room. Maybe room a little bit small More facilities available such as breakfast available on request (winter),. Too small and had no chairs, table or hanging space in the room. Overpriced for the size and lack of room facilities. Fridge was too full of mini bar items not leaving any room for own items. The room door didn't seem very secure. The room was a studio minus and for the price - not good value in my view. I would have expected the price to be around $100 a night. Too cramped I'm afraid. Nice people. The name including the word "Boutique" is misleading. This old hotel is undergoing renovation of the main building which may be ok when finished but the current rooms are small, ancient, flimsy constructed rooms situated at the rear of the main building. The rooms have been refurbished but unfortunately the paper thin walls were overlooked and as a result every single noise from adjacent rooms is heard. This was the least value of seven hotels during our 14 day stay in NZ.
