  Owner and staff were extremely nice and were very helpful. When I asked them something (like recommendation for the transport to various sites or good restaurants nearby), they were willing to help and their suggestions and recommendations fit my needs. The hotel was very convenient location-wise and it was very comfortable as a whole. A minute away was a nice breakfast place and in and around the station there were numerous eating places for dinner. The Ryokan was spotlessly clean and the staff friendly and helpful in supplying maps and information on sightseeing.

  Great value for money. Appreciated the time that the manager took to help plan our visit and to get around, really went above and beyond. Very clean, had what a family needs. Searched a lot of sites for hotels, ryokans for 4 people that didn't break the bank. This had a nice mix of modern and traditional. Such as towels, a variety of dishes, tourism pamphlets, coffee maker, bottles of water, shampoo and condition, dishwasher, washer and dryer! We didn't need to bring anything other than ourselves and our clothes. It was very spacious for 5 people! There was lots of English around to help us use the appliances!

  This hotel is a ryokan, or traditional Japanese style inn with tatami floors and futon beds. The location is ideal and very lovely, in the middle of the Gion district, with easy access to many key sites, as well as restaurants and shopping. This excellent ryokan is run by a Japanese family, who are very friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend this hotel. - The location is superb for a taste of real Kyoto. Beautiful streets full of temples around. We were in a two-room (suite) japanese room with bathrooom during Gion Matsuri so that price was high but reasonable. This is a family Ryokan and hence lacks services. The dedication and desire to please of the family that runs the hotel highly compensates. I would certainly like to return.

  My wife and I stayed there and was very warmly welcomed by the staff. My wife is pregnant but we found sleeping on the tatami mattress comfortable. Aircon works well and the room and toilet was very clean. We booked around 1 week before going there thus the price was close to 200 Singapore dollars which was a bit steep, but we will stay there a... vad folk säger » gain just because of the hospitality. Also try the set breakfast which you have to pre-order, it was a delicious home-cooked meal. - Decided to get a room with a view of the Japanese garden, was definitely worth the extra money. The staff were exceptionally patient with our limited language ability and extremely helpful in regard to local information and travel questions. The room was very quiet and exceptionally clean, I would definitely recommend staying here, especially for those travelling with jr Pass as the location is very near the rail station.
