A 15-minute walk from Kiyomizu-dera Temple and Yasaka Shrine, Guest House Gojo offers simple and cosy Japanese-style dormitory accommodation with free Wi-fi, futon beds and shared bathrooms. It is housed in a 100-year-old traditional building. Rental bicycles are available. Each air-conditioned dormitory room has a tatami (woven-straw) floor and sliding paper screens. Toilets are shared, and rooms can have up to 6 guests. Towels are available at a surcharge. The hotel is 400 metres from Keihan Kiyomizu-Gojo Train Station and a 10-minute taxi ride from JR Kyoto Train Station. Sanjusangen-do Temple is a 15-minute walk. Guests can enjoy light meals and drinks at the cafe on the ground floor. There is no curfew.

The staff were all absolutely kind and helpful and the place felt like home. We borrowed their inexpensive rental bikes, which were great for getting around. Traditional and cozy. All the things I would want: clear explanation of how things work, fridge and simple kitchen access, 24 hour entry, help with transit info, pleasant showers, handy posted map with hours noted of local bath houses, kept our bags after check-out, windows open, nice light, pretty wood work and no tv.
alla recensioner » Unless I have the cash to stay at a high-end Ryokan, Gojo is my favorite place to stay in Kyoto. The staff are wonderful and kind, but also almost all young Japanese living in Kyoto. They have great recommendations and are funny and helpful. They also play cool music in the relaxed cafe where a nice thick piece of honey toast and a hand drip cup of coffee are only 300 yen!. We managed to book this room for one night at last minute, and were very happy of our choice. Staff was very friendly, helpful and speaks very good English. Futons are comfortable. Good point also, no curfew compared to other Ryokans. It is a good solution for backpackers or small groups of friends with low-budget without compromising on quality. Really nice homely feel due to everything being arranged with utmost care and the staff being incredibly nice and good english speakers, too. The traditional rooms with tatami mats and futons are a really great experience! Very cheap bike rental makes the city effortlessly accessible. I'll go there anytime I'm in Kyoto!. The Japanese traditional bed is so cool. The room is big, we enjoyed our stay as it is so comfortable and relaxing. Especially after a long tiring walk around the area. It is just a walking distance to Kiyomizu-dera and very accessible to Gion, just one bus ride. although I stayed for oneday only, very helpful, nice people in the hotel were very impressive. They were easygoing to talk to, you can ask any questions, they have answer for you! Also very conviently located near kimizudera temple, if you wish to visit. Really nice place to stay the staff are great and speak English the subway is just down the road brilliant spot to visit the shrines and temples on that side of town. They had a very nice attitude towards their guest and respected their private life. I was only there for 5 out of the 11 ordered nights. Love the friendly staff (Miwaさんありがとう) Love the situation! Love the semi ryokan! Love the location! Love love love <3. The people are really friendly and are good at speaking English. They also help a lot with sightseeing maps and tips. The guesthouse has a wonderful atmosphere and the staff is great! Everybody was so nice!!!. Great atmosphere. Not like your ordinary hotel. Good coffee. Great hangout spot. Traditional feel. In Gojo guest house, there are kind staffs with good english. And they kindly answered about transportation, some place to eat, etc. I stayed in traditional tatami room, it was good cultural experience. And there is a cafe in 1st floor. There is in general, cozy atmosphere. And it's at close location with Kiyomizudera(靑水寺) in walking distance. staff are friendly and helpful location is OK. not too far. washing machine is good for clean your clothes with dryer. safety or the place and. Liked everything. There was some road noise it didn't bother me much but one of my fellow guests had a bit of trouble sleeping I guess it's more of a personal thing. Nothing in particular, a little unconvenient with no showering but that's a personal thing. e of the rooms was also very close to Gojo street, didn't stop me from sleeping like a baby though. The door & floor a bit kinda anoying... A better kitchen, utensils, free tea and coffee would be good. Outside of room, it was little bit cold. (I stayed at March) The location is quite far from Kyoto station. a. U hear the noise of traffic from outside b. the aircond are not controlable due to shared with others . some like cold some like hot(even no aircond) c. noise from other people walked in and out from the unit.Cause the wooden floor. d. smell from other people living in the same room. some not take shower so sting. e. wood work need repaint.it is looked tired.
