  I was a little bit sceptical when I booked this hotel because there were no other comments from boooking users but then I was really surprised. this hotel is comfortable and cozy and we had a pleasant stay. it is a bit old but you can see they are renewing it since it's now part of novum hotel group.   Excellent location, very close to train station and many restaurants...just a few steps to the lovely lake area. It's close to shopping and sights, too, and if you're not too burdened with luggage, you can walk from the cruise center (we did, with 50-pound bags). We'd stay at Ibis again. - Location was a big plus, walking distance from train station and main city attractions. Staff at the breakfast buffet, bar and front desk were very nice.   The staff was very friendly and very helpful with directions. Location was excellent: 3 closeby train stations and very central, beside Alster lake, closeby touristy spots. The rooms were new, very comfy beds (difficult to leave the room!) Price was reasonable for the convenience. Also, the hotel was right on the lake, just a few steps away from several lakeside restaurants (which had indoor and outdoor seating). We were also lucky to be in Germany for white asparagus season, so there was "Spargel" on every menu.
