The town of Azay-Le-Rideau is beautiful, and a great stopover between Calais and SW France. Lots of bars and restaurants to explore, nice bar by the river for the children to paddle in. Our children also enjoyed riding their bikes around. The hotel is well located in the main part of town, and is a lovely building. Our family room was lovely - spacious and well decorated. Although the room was hot, we asked for a fan that was immediately brought to our room. Staff were really friendly and hel.
alla recensioner » The staff were very friendly and they had excellent advise on a couple of restaurants to eat. Azay-le-Rideau is a smaller town and we found that charming. The Azay-le-Rideau Chateau is right down the street! It was easy to drive to the other Chateaus in the area and avoid the bigger city of Tours (parking, noise, etc.). Breakfast in the courtyard was a wonderful way to start a day (and we are still wondering about the horns embedded in old wall...) For a family of 4 this hotel was an excellent . The hosts at Hotel de Biencourt were supurb. So helpful and kind, we had a very warm welcome and farewell from them. Our room was excellent in presentation and comfort. It was situated near the tranquil courtyard which was a terrific place to sit and enjoy a drink and snack. The location of the hotel is so cental and free carparking less than 100m away was a plus. Truly a wonderful boutique hotel and great value for money. Beautifully restored old village house and schoolroom around a delightful courtyard. Friendly, helpful reception. Coffee and tea available throughout the day. Little touches like wine glasses so you could buy local produce, bring it back and enjoy it in the hotel/courtyard. Right on the "main" street, so easy access for shops, restaurants and the chateau, which is a one minute walk away. This was a great hotel, in a perfect location to visit Azay-le-Rideau chateau. Parking away from the hotel. This is inevitable given the location, and only 200 metres or so, but a slight down-side. It is possible to drive up to the fron of the hotel to load and unload bags,however, as the road is "semi-pieton". Attic room 6 bis is small but as expected because of the reasonable room rate. Nothing!. no coffee in room no fridge in room. None. The hotel lacks its own car park - but free parking is available very close by. nothing. Attic bedroom was a little small, would not suit someone very tall as roof beams low. Anyone who can't climb stairs for a couple of lights might have problems, as there is no elevator. Nothing.
