The lady owner could not have been more welcoming and friendly. I had car problems and she immediately put me in touch with the most relevant garage in Angouleme. The view over the country from the room was fantastic, yet the accommodation is only a few hundred yards (all uphill and up steps) from the centre of the Old Town, where most of the restaurants and places of interest are situated.
alla recensioner » Laferrière has loads of character, with it's limestone walls and tasteful interior. I was made to feel very welcome and at home, everyone was extremely helpful. It really catches the sun and I enjoyed breakfast on the terrace. Great location for the centre of town, just a short walk in a straight line!. The building, the location, the owner. Quirky in the best possible sense and memorable for all the right reasons. Please note, Madame's English is OK but this is the place to give your French a real workout. Madame very helpful and friendly, even getting me some raspberry jam to go with the excellent breakfast. Nice room with great view and very spacious bathroom. Tea and coffee supplied. Wonderful welcome - very convenient location for city centre. Secure garaging (€10) is worth booking. Just like being invited into someone's home. The warmth of the reception from our hostess, the style of furnishings, and the excellent breakfast served on the terrace. the very friendly welcome and helpful attitude of the owner. It was like being in somebody's home, which of course it is!. Owner, Michelle, was extremely welcoming and made sure our brief stay was enjoyable. Wonderful breakfast on the terrace. Mme Coriolan was very welcoming and attentive. Her B&B was a few minutes' walk from the centre of the old city. Very warm welcome and the owner was so helpful. Charming landlady. Lovely position in town. Madame Coriolan was extremely helpful and a very kind host. Good proximity to the historic town centre. Close to town centre. The stairs are very steep and tortuous (as in many old French houses) - very careful negotiation is required. It rained so we had to have breakfast indoors rather than outside on the terrasse. Nowhere to hang clothes. Stairs (one or two flights) might be difficult for elderly, less mobile guests. Share bathroom might deter some guests - although not a problem for us. A little difficult to find, but once found the location was good. The stairs would be a problem for anybody with mobility problems. No air condition / fan. Not en suite. No private bathroom as booked. Towels smelled off. No lock on bedroom door and no ceiling to room below which meant we coud hear all conversations clearly. Bathroom with shower at end of corridor and shared with another room.
