This location was great for exploring Cape Breton/Cabot Trail. There are many walking trails in the area. We stayed in one of the cottages for 4 nights, with kitchen unit. The unit had an outside patio with table and chairs. Manager/owner, Jeff was very friendly and helpful. The staff was very friendly. There is a restaurant on site that serves good food but I would recommend to take the cottage with the kitchen and prepare your own food. There are also local restaurants that serve local seafoo.
alla recensioner » We liked the friendly staff and location near Cape Breton Highland NP and the harbor. The cost was reasonable, the cabin was clean and everything worked well. We liked having a full kitchen and liked the "dispenser style coffee" maker. The deck out front was a nice feature, too. The cabin was a great upgrade from a regular motel room. Stayed on the first night of a 3 day cycling trip around the Cabot Trail. We had a two bedroom cottage and it was small, but effective and a bargain pricewise. Having a restaurant on site with good foor and beer was a big plus as we didn't have a car; only our bikes. Reasonably priced food too. Wonderful location and scenery. Closed to the mountains and the sea. Friendly staff, good restaurant on the premises. Be sure to have breakfast and ask for the hummingbird bird booth. They are right outside your window and I got some great pictures. Truly a rustic experience. The staff were very friendly. No problems checking in or out. Restaurant was very good service, food and prices. We stayed in one of the cabins which was very clean and comfortable. Privacy of having our own housekeeping unit. Friendly staff in the restaurant, and watching the hummingbirds at the feeders on the window was a highlight!. One of the bedrooms had the air conditioner right in the room and there was no widow for fresh air. TV was small and located on top of fridge but if you are there to enjoy nature, it's not important. Beds were not the most comfortable and were only doubles. Bathroom was very small but clean. The cabin was older, and while all the appliances and utilities worked well, it is clear need of some refurbishing and minor repair in the kitchen and bathroom. The AC unit was a good, and unexpectedly needed feature, but the entirely blocked off window that head it in place was odd. bed was too small. It would be nice to have a small coffee maker in the room. Wifi in the cabin didn't work but we sat in the restaurant and got a strong connection. Limited cell service!!. Mattress could have been better. The food wasn't great but at least they were serving some on the premises!. our TV didn't work, we thought the room would have a small fridge, but it didn't. its a little dated but very clean. The shower: no water pressure or temperature control. the food at the restaurant: expensive and not enough fresh. They use cleaning carpet soap a little bit too strong! The smell is quite strong!. The wifi was terrible. would have liked a coffee maker in the room. I felt obligated to order something for breakfast just to obtain my coffee. I use non dairy products for cereal and coffee so don't rely on restaurants for breakfast. Poor shower pressure. We would have liked a coffee maker in the room. lamp did not work, wifi was sporatic sometimes. Nothing really. bed was small. low water pressure. no couch in cabin to sit and watch tv. Beds weren't that comfortable. There were beetles. No common room to sit other than kitchen table. The motel rooms were (for what we are used to) rather out-dated. But the bed was ok and we slept very well. The bedding was clean and comfortable, but it looked like they bought the sheets from a thrift store. A coffee maker would have been nice. Cottage not sitting on a solid foundation. No actual tv, only a monitor. Very outdated. too old, need update. Rundown, dirty, small. This motel urgently needs renovation. No breakfast included in the price. No coffee machine. No ice machine. This was the worst maintained property I have ever stayed at. Bed was very hard and old. Furniture was run down and so was washroom which had little place to put personal items. Besides internet (way too slow), there was nothing much else as amenities. No toileteries at all, no phone in room, no refrigerator; a/c was noisy and old. too noisy no shampoo no breakfast far from others restaurants room too dark. every thing. Rude behaviour of the front desk staff/owner.
