The Flamengo area is a great in Rio de Janeiro to stay, where you can stay at a great hotel, but not pay the price as you would in Copacabana or Ipanema.   Hotel Rondonia is a nice place to stay. We had 4 quite rooms (on level 8). Breakfast is very good....and so is the location. - Service was good, breakfast had nice choices, room got cleaned everyday.

  Ok, this is not a five-star hotel, but they don't charge a five-star price either. My opinion is, you get exactly what you pay for. It's in Lapa, this means it probably used to be in a slum. It is not in a slum now. It is 50 meters from Selaron staircase, a famous landmark. It is a vibrant neighborhood, so maybe it's not ok for children -- I would... vad folk säger » n't know. We're a reasonably young couple, and for us it was just perfect. Stuff are very helpful, they do speak English (I was prepared to resort to - Good location in Lapa, not far away from the Arcos da Lapa or Cinelandia station. A rather tidy room.   This was our second stay in the Monte Alegro. Great location near the Arcos de Lapa. Plenty of supermercados, banks, restaurants in the area. Staff were energetic and knowledgable.
