Wonderful location, friendly staff and a fair price. Tiny but welcoming town. Beautiful view of the lake and a short distance to some great treks/sights. Overall really loved my stay. Atmosphere, views of lake, had to upgrade room due to unpleasant odour in economy rooms - macintosh rooms very comfortable. Beautiful location and my room was clean with good facilities. Cooked breakfast was very good and great value for money.

After reading some poor reviews we were happy to find everything was great including the food. The lake, The kind lady at the reception The clean and comfort of the room. Everything. Staff very helpful and friendly. Catering good. Location by the lake was great. Friendly staff,lovely location and excellent food. Proximity to Cradle Mtn N.P. Comfortable clean room and good value. Reasonably close to Cradle Mountain. I think the staff was fantastic, welcoming and always willing to help. Lake views Staff good Quiet. Friendly staff, location. Good view. The staff were kind enough to upgrade us because I had booked the chalet because it was advertised for 2 people. She advised us that it would have been rather small. Although the appearance of the room was rather basic I had one of the best nights sleep during my stay in Tasmania. The double bed was so comfortable. We had a meal in the restaurant in the evening. It was tasty and good value for money. Table tennis and 8 ball room The service and the food Open fire and lounge area Hot shower. The general area was beautiful the meals excellent the staff very friendly and helpful. Location and country feeling looking over the lake. The natural environment, value for money. Location was good, very quiet. Cheap, reasonable food, easy to heat a small room. The host gave us a bigger room on request. Staff were very nice. No comment. Nothing. The lake was beautiful. If it wasn't for that our stay there would have been a dead loss. The lake. $5 for a coffee was a bit excessive. Everything else was reasonably priced. Booked economy room but unpleasant damp odour in rooms, had to pay additional amount for room upgrade. Service in the bar and restaurant was quite poor. What's not to like? Will definitely revisit. *No drinking in room or on deck. Room was not very comfortable and would have been improved if at least a chair was provided. the facilities are a bit old and could use a bit of renovation/improvement in the rooms. the dining area was rather cold. Room a bit on the cold side. Heater not efficient. Probably would benefit from a couple of comfortable chairs in the room to watch television etc. There was no internet connection, facilities are very old. We chose it because it was inexpensive and not too far from Cradle Mountain. Because of The rainy weather the place looked a bit dismal on arrival. It is basic so don't expect the Ritz. Heating, only 1 heater out of 2 working in room. (Very cold) Pillows were so flat you had to put a towel underneath to make it higher. Not enough bedding for the bunk beds. Another blanket would of been good. it was not very comfortably as we had to get one of the white chairs as my husband had difficulty trying to dress. Tiny room, not even a chair? The shower needs work, room really needs renovating. Basically this a construction camp attempting to be current day family friendly accommodation and it doesn't make it - it is still base accommodation in a dormitory. Note that switching in the bathroom is not compliant with current regulations as the switches can be wet from use of the shower. Tiny room, bathroom fan was completely controlled by another room, drab, grubby area, a struggle getting from car to room due to layout. Also, front desk seemed to think my husband and I needed two beds - still not sure why... The tv advertising was misleading. The rooms were very small and old and the walls were paper thin- no privacy. Room was very poor value for money. Too small, tea & coffee were like the left over from the previous people used the accommodation. The ground around the cabins was like American movies that hunts travellers lots of junk around if they keep the area clean it would be so beautiful place for guests to walk around & enjoy the beauty of nature. The room are very basic, no internet, no telephone, no closet, 14" tv screen high io wall, lack shelve space in bathroom. The resturant food is awful. Ask for a steak medim and got a Texas style well done. very dissapointed still looks like the workers quarters food average overpriced for the room type thought it would be better as part of innkeepers. I realise the room we booked was budget but that wasn't made clear before we booked. The pictures were deceptive. It was $75. It was awful. It came with complimentary fly spray which was good because the screens didn't fit. Mozzies got in. Overpriced Appallingly poor quality accommodation Absolute slop served up at extremely high prices in the "restaurant". Our room was very dank the shower leaked, all over the floor. When you turned the tap on the basin water went everywhere. Requested extra Pillows they never came. We could not wait to move on. I have never seen any place like it. we were very disappointed.Carol.
