Our stay here was an "old world" experience, wonderful. Not just somewhere to stay, it was like going to a play or the opera. Such a privilege to stay in a 1800 heritage building. Lydia and James made us very welcome and provided an excellent dinner by the fire and also a wonderful breakfast. We stayed in the suite overlooking the river. We hope to take friends there for dinner next week. If you want modern stay somewhere else, if you want a total experience pay them a visit. alla recensioner »
We stayed three nights & had
dinner every night, The standard of service and cooking was great & also gracious. The atmosphere in the dining room amongst the memorabilia was in accord with the colonial period & very comfortable.
Our room was wonderful with Old English decor.
Meals were excellent, service was good and staff polite.
The manager, Lydia, went out of her way to ensure that we enjoyed our stay. She was charming, most helpful and a great host.
Fabulous home cooked meals (breakfast & dinner). Loved the ambience and history of the buildings - a genuine 19th century feel. Really nice room with comfortable bed. Lydia is a friendly and thoughtful host.
loved it, great place to stay , great food, extremely friendly,if we go back to tassie we will stay there again nothing to complain about ,great value for money.
If you are into antiques, this place is amazing. The whole house is filled and is more like a museum.
Excellent Breakfast.
like stepping into a curiosity / antique shop and stepping back in time. Quirky and charming. Land lady an absolute gem.
Gorgeous quaint old world accommodation full of history and antiques along with charming hospitality.
Quiet, restful, relaxing, dinner available if required, very friendly and attentive host and staff.
Room and furnishings - old colonial and very comfortable,
The owner was very pleasant.
Fantastic host, made us feel really welcome. Bed was very comfortable.
Large room,antique decor,new shower room.
old world charm - clean tidy friendly.
Lovely old world inn
Huge breakfast.
The owner is a very pleasant lady, I assume running this just as a 'hobby'.
There was not one thing that we disliked during our stay. If we venture that way again we would hope to gain accommodation at the Old Colony Inn.
Nothing. This was a highlight of our Tasmanian trip.
Description of 'Views of River Derwent' is misleading - you can see just a small section. (But not a significant point unless that is what you really want!).
Bed too soft for our liking.
It rained.
No onsite parking, fridge not turned on before arrival, ancient analogue TV/ DVD player difficult to operate.
Bed could have been a little more comfortable We kept rolling into the middle.
Nowhere did I see this establishment described as a B & B, until we arrived. There is a sign saying so on the street. . Except for the bathroom which has obviously been renewed, the whole place is old, musty and unlike other B & B's , no cooked breakfast. The TV was so small we had to sit right on top of it to see it! Difficult access with parking ONLY out on the street.
