An interesting environment; more pleasing than being in a modern, bland motel or an impersonal feeling large hotel. The kitchen in our room was a good size and a nice feature to our double bedded room - a feature we were not expecting, and also because we considered the room rate good value for a double bedded room in the city - and to have a nice sized bathroom and kitchen was lovely. alla recensioner » We were really surprised at our value for money. It was just beautiful. The room was decorated with lovely antique furniture as was the whole inn.. The owners were very friendly and accommodating .. The bed was comfy and the shower had great pressure.. Breakfast was lovely and in such a stunning dining room.. If you like old world charm then this is the place to stay in Launceston.. It was central to everything. We stayed 2 nights but could easily have stayed a week.. I will definetly return he. There was no option to say my trip was partly family business and partly leisure. My accompanying friends were Sydney tourists and I thought the OBI would be the perfect combination of comfort and good central location, and so it proved. We liked the fact that it was an old building renovated for accommodation. We also liked the little balconies and the good old-fashioned soundproofing. I also liked the fact that the radio worked and was tuned to the ABC, which isn't the case in many places. Our room in The Stables was unique, a mix of heritage with a modern twist. Beautiful linen & furniture. Modern spacious bathroom & car parking near our room. Breakfast served in the breakfast room was enjoyable, a nice choice & good value. The managers & staff were welcoming & friendly. Would certainly recommend to others & stay here again. I liked the comfortable room with its little balcony overlooking the courtyard, and beyond I could see my car safe in the car park. It was spotlessly clean, and had a historic ambience that I loved. I did enjoy the plentiful breakfasts too, they kept me going for most of the day. It was very reasonably priced for a single traveller. Furniture was stylish and of high quality. Sheets etc crisp and clean Not cramped but well laid out with plenty of room to walk. Bathroom very clean. Breakfast room was wonderful with crisp white tablecloths and shiny cutlery. Great character rooms,in keeping with the whole laid back character of Launceston,with a lot of charm ,very comfortable beds and plenty of room. The room was quite big. The patio in front of the room was very calming. The hotel has a soul with all of the old but charming decoration. The location is perfect for those who want to visit Cataract Gorge (5-min walk). It is close to the shops but mainly easy access to visit family in hospital. My sister and I especially loved the beauiful ambience of the room and cosy seating areas. The cooked breakfast was a real treat. Very friendly and helpful owners, including the dog. We were very comfortable and liked staying in an historic building near the centre of Launceston. Also liked their interesting collections. The owners, proud Tasmanians Alan and Vicki were exceptionally great. They are friendly and make oneself feel at home. The breakfasts they cook are great. Quiet despite its very central location. Very good value for such a comfortable, clean and convenient motel. It maY have been a bit twee but it was very clean and comfortable being in a good location for river walks and near to city centre for restaurants. the Old Bakery Inn is a quirky place, quiet and very pleasant for a weekend stay. All perfect. No wifi. N/A. Very rude staff. The high pitched wine coming from the shower plumbing in the adjacent room. We were in room 22 and we knew exactly when those in room 24 had a shower. Couldn't see TV from one side of the bed....first world problem though:). Parking could be a problem when fully booked. Noisy plumbing. We had to walk through the smoking area on patio to get to our room. It's an old original building, so on the breezy night I stayed, there was a bit of wind noise, but that's a minor issue. Would like to have had internet access to check in for flight. there was nothing to dislike. Dining and Food - especially coffee needs to be improved. This aspect was disappointing. -.
